Maybe there is something scientific to taking siestas. I often feel dead tired in the afternoons. Usually around 2 PM. I know we like to laugh at folks in Latin lands taking siestas but the more I think about it, the more reasonable taking siestas sound. I mean, is it written in some law that we only sleep once per day? Perhaps we need a few hours afternoon sleep.
[a war with the religious right is coming, cause that's what they want]
Spitballs at twenty paces?
I don't. They're nuts. What's more, they stink. It should be easy to spot (smell) and avoid them from far away.
Forget the smiley after my coded message. B-)
Now is the time on Shprockets ven ve dahnce.
LOL! Is that Ashlee Simpson after she messed up on SNL?
Case in point: one of the people protesting outside Terri Schiavo's nursing home.
In an interview, she identified herself as pro-life at ALL levels: anti-war, anti-death-penalty, anti-abortion, anti-euthanasia. I would infer that she opposes the war in Iraq, and because of this, she might also disapprove of President Bush. Does this sound like a right-wing fundie to anyone? I don't think so. A Catholic Democrat, perhaps? And yet the DUmmies would have us think that all of the protesters in the Schiavo case were wild-eyed right-wing fundamentalist Christian ("xtian"??) Taliban.
On re-read, I'm not trying to imply that Catholics are not Christian, btw. I know my example doesn't fit your post in its entirety. But I think it does fly in the face of the stereotype that the DUmmies are putting out there.
"There is a fire at the travel bureau."
I always wondered about this sort of thing (like Al Gore speaking at a church with predominantly African-Americans members, and going into full-bore "black preacher mode" in a way that was nothing short of startling). If churches are not supposed to be directly involved in politics or endorsing any particular candidate, HOW DO THE DEMOCRATS CONSISTENTLY GET AWAY WITH DOING THIS? How do those churches that only allow Democrats to speak from their pulpits keep their tax-exempt status?
Thanks for that visual. Eeewwww!
Sounds like a great sig line.
[JW's don't believe in the divinity of Christ, which is the most fundamental belief of fundamentalist Christians]
This is so true, that when the JW "translators" wrote their own New World Translation, they rewrote John 1:1 as
"In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was A god."
rather than
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God."
They did this because the true translation was a direct challenge to their doctrine.
They really can't stand the name of Christ, can they?
Nope. I find it frightening, too, and for the very reasons that you and others have stated here.
"John has a long mustache."
Message recieved. Roger, Wilco, over and out.
Oops sorry commandante, can't go tonight, I promised to help the wife with the dishes.
Not only that, their multicolored hair glows in the dark. Makes for easy targets even without night vision equipment.
No they can't. I suppose it's kinda like the vampire and garlic thingy with them.
Or is it werewolves that are repelled by garlic? I can't seem to keep those creatures straight in my mind since Boris Karloff isn't making movies anymore.
I wouldn't get too creeped out by anything the DUmmies write. I suppose sticking "Christian" in between Karl and Rove is their feeble attempt at a subliminal suggestion technique. If that's the best they can do I won't sweat it.
