There are a large group of Shia in Iran who believe the Mahdi is here, today, among us, and that he is, in fact, George "W" Bush!
So, maybe the time left for us is less than we ever imagined.
No... I'm not challenging you, they were talking about it on Fox and this was the best thread I could find right now to pose the question. It seems so radical -- far beyond anything Vatican II came up with. And how could I have not had it in my conciousness? It's weird.
Also -- Shep was interviewing a Pentecostal bishop and they were working on their wish list for the catholic church regarding homos, women priests, married priests, etc. It was like, here we go...
Doesn't the world have to go through a time of peace on earth before the end times ? Don't think we hit that point yet.
In fact, I tracked down the meaning of the names, and they are different. Odds are the first scribe to record the Mahdi prophesies missread that "r" as an "m", or the typewriter they used had a bent key.
So many mysteries, so little time.
BTW, I love those Iranians who got the "W is the Mahdi" thing going. If anything, it scared the pants of the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Lebanese, and probably the Sunni in Iraq.
That's Issac's country, which one is Ishmael's?
This occurs independently of the insanity of the writer.
We call these things KO INKY DINKS!
Da Vinci code is a joke. For religious doubters, they will believe every word of it.
It provides water even until today.
Ismael, unfortunately (from the Moslem point of view) was displaced from his status as First Born by Isaac because his mother was only a servant and not a true wife as was Sarah.
The Iranians can taste freedom so bad they want to believe it.
KINGS II is a good one to look at too ~ several Mahdi-like fellows come over from the far North and kick tail in Babylon.
BTW, "W" is a demonstration that God picks His champions and His prophets where he finds them! It's not up to us to decide for Him who is suitible.
See posts #3 and #13.
Interesting that most of these concern the Jewish people and Israel, but according to them, #9 hasn't yet happened (a Savior, that is. None deny the literal existence of Jesus).
"The Da Vinci code is if a fraud. It will not stand the test of time."
The Da Vinci code is a work of fiction ONLY and the only test it's meant to survive is how much money it can make Dan Brown. THAT test it has passed with flying colors.
But it's only a story.
"The Messiah still has to return and when he does he will establish a kingdom of peace and righteousness. Hmmm"
According to our Jewish brethren, the Messiah hasn't come down yet, much less returned. Are they right about the "Israel" prophecies but dead-wrong about Jesus Christ?
"The author of the DaVinci Code is crazy."
Nah. As a writer, I kinda thought he was a hack who stole from other people's works, most notably Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum"...but he's just an author of beach-read fiction...which is all the "DaVinci Code" is - a work of average fiction that's an entertaining read, at best.
You folks who want to suggest that it's anything else need to realize the guy's only trying to make a buck...and at that, Dan Brown is very successful. But he's just an author of fiction. That's all.
"Ismael, unfortunately (from the Moslem point of view) was displaced from his status as First Born by Isaac because his mother was only a servant and not a true wife as was Sarah."
Which is interesting, because biologically, he's still Abraham's first-born.
