You know Jeb Bush didn't initiate this and blaming him instead of a corrupt judicial sysytem is crazy.
Mack is right and you are wrong.
However, it's not crazy to expect him to reign in an out-of-control judiciary and take back power to the executive branch that is granted it by statute and constitution. Greer's actions have exceeded his authority.
A discussion that needs to be had: what can be done with a corrupt legal system, when it is Hell-bent on killing an innocent woman?
I heard the usually almost supernaturally-even-tempered Hugh Hewitt actually shout a guy off his show yesterday. He did not let the guy make his case, he just cut him off, told him he was nuts, and told him to shut up.
The guy was advocating that the judge's orders should be disregarded, and whatever needed to be done should be done to override them.
Now, I'm not saying I agree with that perspective. But I'd like to hear it really discussed; and I have some hard questions I'd like to ask.
One I'd've asked Hugh (and maybe you) is, "If not now, then when? What would be 'going too far,' and what would we do about it?" Here is a judge, NOT in a criminal trial, ordering the slow, miserable, degrading torture-death of an innocent and helpless woman. The whole nation sits and watches. Some idiots make jokes or defend the status quo. Others wring our hands and do what we can which, as it turns out, isn't bloody much. But how far is too far? When is talking not enough? If not this case, then which?
Those are just a few of my questions, and I have many more. Like how are we different from the "good Germans" of Hitler's day? What moral perspective do we have from which we can, ever again, criticize them? Would our Fathers have tolerated this? I honestly wonder what people like Hugh whose perspective I always value would have been saying in 1775, 1776. Would they have been advocating dur process, calmness, orderliness?
Honestly, I am not asking these as leading questions, because the God's honest truth is, I don't know the answer. But this gnaws at me, eats at me, through the day, and while I don't think that the Bush brothers and the legislatures have done nothing, I still am haunted with the feeling that they've not done enough, that there MUST have been something more they could have done -- that the nation that can free two whole countries in a few years' time could have rescued one helpless woman from a miserable death we literally would not permit to a dog.
I was just reading last night where an Oklahoma governor declared martial law at the sight of a bridge crossing over the Red River and claiming that it made any Federal court order null and void because it made him Commander of the Oklahoma National Guard.
Now I don't know the legalities of that wrt a federal judge, but it does seem to me quite the case that if the Gov of Fla declared martial law around the hospice, the law enforcement officers there now would no longer have peace officer authority, or would at the very least have to surrender that authority to the Gov. Failing to do so would make them insurrectionists. It would also render orders by the local judge null and void. In effect the authority of the Gov in that case would be clear and unambiguous.
Jeb Bush will not be blamed, except for some loudmouths on this post. In fact, it is the same loudmouths and millions of Americans that directly are responsible for Terri's heartbreaking plight. Had they gotten off they butts and destroyed the Democrat "Dr. Death/Traitor" Party years ago, we would not have the judges on the bench that sustained this tragedy!!! Look in the mirror folks, you did this to Terri, not Jeb or GW Bush.
And, I suspect the left-wing of the Democrat party has a solid solution to the Social Security problem. Reduce the excess older population, and with their euthanasia departure, Social Security costs will decrease at the same time, with mass "court approved" killings of the aged and infirm. For a test program, the Democrat Dr. Death's can petition the Vatican to pull the feeding tube on the Pope. Barney Frank says that would be just peachy!!! Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman of south Florida is beside herself with unlimited joy. Congressman Wexler of south Florida will gleefully pull the feeding tube from the Pope's nose!!! America is getting just what it voted for. Until the present, current, Democrat Party is totally destroyed at the ballot box, the Dr. Death's, the perverts, the America haters, the secular, the Godless, etc will rule the day and, and with it, your lives. Your destiny does not lie in any given politician hands. It rests squarely within yourself. End of story!!!
The "no good deed goes unpunished" crowd at FR are mindless zealots. Or maybe I should give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest mere temporary insanity. Either way, they are ruining FR and doing their best to ruin the conservative movement by fracturing the GOP.
Neither did Pilate.
