I am dumbfounded and suspicious at the sudden silence and hands-off approach of the respective Bush executives. I don't expect the president to ride up and feed her himself but that lame disclaimer about the limits of executive power are just too much. In the balance, even with his "err on the side of life remarks," which I thought were "measured," his moral influence in on behalf of this woman has been like a dying canary in a wet paper bag.
