"---The only thing I don't like is when he says there are three sexes.
Men, women and what?"

Huh?

In SF, that makes perfect sense!

Sounds like you were on the receiving end of a Savage put down. Did he hang up on you?

We call them Shims. She/Hims.

I was frisked by a Shim the other day at a security check point at the airport. Let me tell you - that "person" hasn't been a "woman" for more than a few weeks....

Shims, indeed.

PS... in SF, if you work for the City, your sex change operations are covered by insurance.

I too was at one of his conventions a few years ago, I think it was in Fremont. He had some very interesting speakers, but then Savage came on stage alone. He rambled, said anything that came into his head, and mocked the people who were getting up to leave. He really lost me then.

I heard him speak of this event at one time when I did tune in later. He seemed to think that his performance was stellar - that them more he drank (he had a young lady on stage that was keeping his glass filled) the clearer his mind became. Maybe, but the clarity of his mind certainly wasn't reflected in his speaking. Once again, he mocked those who chose to leave rather than stay and listen to him ramble.

I was a fan when he first came on the radio in the bay area, but I haven't listened to him in more than 5 minute stretches in the past three years.

I seriously think Michael is unbalanced. He changes his rants and opinions to the other side sometimes in the same show. Although he gets some things right, and his book was brilliant, he is more than I can take anymore to listen to.

After listening to Michael Savage since 1999 here in the Bay Area, there are some conclusions that I can make about the man. His vanity knows absolutely no restraints. Him ranting and raving (the "I can't take it anymore!" line is my favorite) without pursuit of a solution never ends. Him being perpetually bitter for getting kicked off MSNBC because he wants to have his cake and eat it too is quietly present. That was the iceberg hitting the ship.

Now his best talent is to bash Drudge, Rush, Hannity, and O'Reilly over ratings. This is clearly cheap envy on his part. The man has peaked, therefore there is no place left to go. He has to badmouth people who came before him and have done better than him. He also loves to complain about Hush Bimbo (Weiner's code word for Rush, not man enough to call people by their name) and his Gulfstream. So what kind of paycheck are you pulling down Mikey? You live in Marin County, not exactly cheap real estate, now is it? Barbara Boxer lives there too when she is not robbing from the taxpayer.

If this man has such a great degree from UC Berkeley, then he would know something about scientific data. Release the raw data on the amount of listeners to the shows questioned. That's all I ask. I know Drudge set him off when he gives the rundown of Weiner's show on WOR, but Mikey doesn't release it. Is it perhaps that the data is correct? His hack act is now catching up with him? Maybe a conservative Howard Stern (a deadbeat shtick works so run with it) without the sex talk?

Another great claim is his writing 20 books. Well a quick trip to Amazon.com using his real name Michael A. Weiner shows that several of them are co-written. Gee, another example of taking credit and not giving proper attribution. No wonder he badmouths Drudge so much. If Drudge didn't put it up first, Weiner would have no show prep other than to stop taking Prozac for the moment. This would probably explain why UC Berkeley didn't give him professorship. The man blatantly rips people's ideas off and claims them as his own. That would be academic dishonesty, wouldn't that? And since it is not Harvard, they probably have actual standards and punishment for people who do that stuff.

Personally I like the type of conservative that Weiner is. Playing nice with liberals is over. Allowing the GOP to be the RepubliCANT party must end. But being a fraud like Weiner is intolerable. If you can't wish people AIDS and death on television and won't stand by that comment (the one that got Mikey kicked off MSNBC), then maybe you shouldn't pretend to be the tough guy that you are. Interesting ideas, but nothing more than being a book salesman or blowhard. Nowadays, I can only listen to The Weiner Nation in VERY small doses, and I am a happier person for it.

I agree. Rush Rules. Don't know why.

Rush has an X factor that the other guys just don't have. Somehow he seems bigger than the people he comments on. Rush would counterbalance a room full of Washington politicians; other hosts would recede into the background. Rush is authoritative in a way that the others aren't. The rest are just opening acts for Rush. Ultimately he matters and they don't. History will remember Rush and forget the rest.

Also, with Rush there's a sense of continuity or narrative or building -- something -- that's not there with other shows. You miss a day of Boortz and it's no biggie. Each show is a discrete event with no real connection to past or future shows. But with Rush, you miss a day and you feel like you've missed a piece of the plot. His shows refer to each other and anticipate each other. His whole approach is just much deeper than others'. It's like he's unfolding a plan.

One other thing, and this is important. In the last week, I've heard Savage and Boortz both call the American people morons. I've never heard Rush do that.

Radio was variety, talk mixed with music for example...

The change in talk radio occurred due to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Talk radio was required to air contracting points of view concerning matters of "public interest" prior to the repeal so there could never be a Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh. Instead, such personalities would have to team up with someone with a contrasting view.

I'm listening to Savage now. I think Rush is #1, Savage #2 and Hannity #3. They all have different styles. Savage doesn't have the credibility of Rush or Hannity, but he's a brilliant thinker not afraid of making mistakes. The only thing I don't like about Savage lately is the one sided fighting with Rush and Sean.

I don't consider O'Reilly a conservative. I stopped paying attention to him when he trashed the Swift Boat Vets for no reason. But Savage does go off on him.

Are you aware of the latest ratings book? Savage is gaining market share while guys like Hannity are losing.

Do a search on google. Check out the NY Post. It is all there. Essentially, the GOP and the equivocators around GWB are losing market share.

Last I looked, Michael Savage was rated third on the list of most listened to radio talk shows, behind Rush and, I think Sean Hannity, with over 8 million listeners. And his latest book is #6 on the New York Times best-sellers list. If Savage has lost his "edge" he certainly hasn't lost his listenership. Personally I support anybody talkinga bout the illegal immigation issue, which Savage has been doing since 1994. He hasnt lost his edge, people are catching up to him.

A lot of the folks who hate him precisely because he makes them uncomfortable in their newly discovered and uncertain, conservative skin. They feel comfortable when Rush says everything they agree with but not so when Savage speaks ill of GWB.

What are these folks going to do as Rush increases his advocacy for closing the borders and throwing out criminal aliens, and of late, his stance on the legalization of marijuana? Savage is against dope in a strong way, go figure.
