I believe more should be asked of the American people for the war effort. I don't know exactly what it would be. But, some level of sacrifice would make us more aware of the stakes involved and build American character. It would also, hopefully, make the troops feel part of a larger team, where those at home were participating to help them.

Everyone on this board, no, not everyone, but I'll venture a guess at perhaps, 99% of the members on this board, will do whatever it takes to assist our brothers and sisters in the military. The other 1% are not lazy or cheap, they are unable due to family matters.
You can do your part by donating, first, to FreeRepublic, then to the USO,
insert shameless plug here(a link to which can be found on my website, which can be accessed by clicking my name).
You will also find a link to Operation Uplink, which provides phone cards to servicemen and women, so they can stay in touch with loved ones.
If you know someone overseas, put a box of stuff together and ship it out.
