Herman Cain for Treasury Secretary

It was reported a few days ago that President Bush is dissatisfied with Treasury Secretary John Snow and he is expected to resign shortly. All the talk is that Bush wants someone with pizzaz, someone who is capable of selling his policies on economic issues, mainly social security and tax reform.

There have been many names mentioned, but there is one candidate who stands out as the most outstanding choice for the position: Herman Cain. Now granted I'm a bit biased, but lets think about Herman's resume and what it takes to be Treasury Secretary:

Herman has had an impeccable career in business, serving as Chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza, VP of Pillsbury and Burger King, and most prominently Chairman and CEO of the National Restaurant Association. His work with the Restaurant Association included leading the business community's fight against HillaryCare in 1994.

After this, Herman Cain served on the National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform, chaired by Jack Kemp (and among whose other members was current Treasury Secretary John Snow). He ran for the US Senate in Georgia this past summer and placed second in the Republican primary despite beginning the race nine months after his opponent and with a significant disadvantage in money and Name ID.

He is an outstanding voice for free market reforms in government, and has exactly what Bush needs most - the ability to speak about free market plans for government reform and convince others of the validity of such ideas. If Bush is serious about naming a Treasury Secretary who will be able to sell Congress and the American people on social security reform and tax code simplification, Herman Cain is unquestionably the best man for the job.
