Here's the original story:

October 11th, 2004 - According to sources close to the actor, Reeve died Sunday. The actor fell into a coma on Thursday after going into cardiac arrest at his New York home.

Reeve is best known for portraying "Superman" in the late 70s and 80s. He also wrote and directed programs for film and television.

In June of 1995, Reeve broke his neck after falling from a horse during a steeplechase race. He was left paralyzed from the accident.

In more recent years, Reeve became a strong advocate of spinal cord research. Reeve was just mentioned Friday in the second live Presidential debate as senator John Kerry spoke of stem cell research.

Reeve was 52.
