This is too much! Now it is being reported that a few days prior to the fake memos segment aired, the CBS producer Mary Mapes spoke directly with the Kerry campiagn about it (specifically Joe Lockhart) and gave Lockhart the name and number of Bill Burkett, the source of the disputed documents.
Apparently, Burkett would not turn over the documents UNLESS CBS arranged a conversation with the Kerry Campaign.
The article also states again that Burkett spoke to Max Cleland and Howard Dean of the Kerry Campaign.
Anyone still wondering HOW the DNC launched their attack ads based on those memos almost simultaneously with the release of the story? They knew about it ahead of time and coordinated it with the CBS story.
This is incredible that any news network would do this...even C-BS.

The DUmmies are right. This was all forseen by the emperor, Karl Rove. Burkett was on Rove's payroll, and managed to destroy both CBS and the DNC in one phone call.
What happened to the call to the Bush campaign warning them that these docs would air?
I'm sure it was done and is just not being reported....geez, I can't even write that with a straight face. :)
Now newsMax is picking up on it. Hopefully the major media outlets will starting reporting on it soon.

The only thing incredible is that they hate the President so much that they would do anything to bring the president down.
Well, I don't know about legal action by the Republicans, but Burkett is jumping on the bandwagon already. Burkett is to file a lawsuit against C-BS.

Shackelford as a "reporter" covering this story for a while would have the tools to create the forgeries.
Democratic Chairman Terry McAuliffe said the accusations were based on documents uncovered by the Associated Press and Boston Globe, not the disputed memos shown on “60 Minutes.”
But then Terry had to open his mouth to say that...which is a sure clue he just might be lying.
