[history]
Dear Free Republic Friends,
My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.
So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):
I have poisoned the well.
By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.
By my intellectual ineptitude.
By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.
By my biting every hand that fed me.
By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.
By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.
Evidenced by:
One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.
By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.
BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.
Conclusion:
It is a sad day.
For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.
So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?
I can hardly wait.
Is it the 18th yet? Tick, tock.

have only hit the abuse button once since I started posting here Hey you opened the subject, not me. You and the cat have been making some pretty serious accusations without the fortitude to back them up. I have been around here for a lot longer than my present name states. I would have to ask Jim or the one of the mods to check my original date to be sure but I think it was around 1999. This place has NEVER been a church social. It was and still is a "faction" driven site. The "old-timers" made one semantically odious mistake that, truth to tell, can be traced to the situation we have today. They coined the term "BushBot". They were not content to debate the Bush republicans on the issues, they wanted to make it clear that Bush republicans were NOT "true-conservatives".

"Fair" is for democrats, victims and other assorted losers. Don't think you're any of the above.

Your response does not answer my question about whether you save all of my posts or not. How did you get a deleted post unless you are a moderator or you save my posts the instant I post them?
Me, a Moderator? Please, spread that rumor. I keep a lot of windows open at once. My browsers allow me to click back a few windows, to earlier versions of a thread.

Jim, I wasn't even a part of that other group when I joined a creation thread. Had never heard of any of them except for Alamo Girl, and I was attacked on the very first page that I posted on by being compared to a banned poster (PatrickHenry said Medved Lives). It was a few hundred posts of being "ganged up on" before I realized that there was another world out there and I wasn't just this lone soul in the midst of wolves. Ironically, it was when Alamo Girl tried to "out" goodseedhomeschool as coming back under another name - and pointed to the website "designeduniverse.com" that I first got introduced to the other crowd at all. None of them wrote me in any detail before that. Nobody pre-formed my opinions of the personalities involved. Some evolutionists were very willing to discuss things and agreeably disagree. They didn't demean me, my intelligence, or my religious beliefs. Others were quite ridiculing and rude. I composed a list of violations of the "agreement" that they all signed where many times there were fundamentalist bashing, or belittling, etc., etc., Unfortunately, I used links on that list and most of those threads have now been pulled.
In short, though, Jim, I formed opinions of what I was up against just by being subjected to their treatment. I've named all but one of them, and you know her name as well but she's in a rather different league than the disruptors. I'm talking with these folks- people who deliberately jump on a thread with the intent to belittle other posters. I've never seen our side do that.
This forum has changed, Jim, since I first signed on 5 years ago. Fair may not be in your vocabulary, but to truly have freedom you also need fundamental fairness. That doesn't mean (no pun intended here) "anarchy", but it means justice should be done. Please consider what I'm saying here. I've been a good poster. I have defended you strongly (even on the other website at times where folks were rightly upset about what was going on over here). I've always known you to be fair. If you choose to run this ship in a haphazzard way, and "fairness" as you say isn't in your vocabulary- you have that right. I won't begrudge you. But I will be disappointed, and so will others who have looked up to you. Just consider it- and moderators, please consider it too.

I keep a lot of windows open at once. My browsers allow me to click back a few windows, to earlier versions of a thread. I think you've inadvertently hit on part of your problem, Saber. Multiple windows?
You really, REALLY need to take a break from this place for a while.

You saw the post on LP...I wonder what you are implyiing here..I gave before today.
I find BadJoe's fixation puzzling. However valuable and wonderful a person is,I don't believe he should feel the right to dictate and attack in such a manner.
I went back and read the year old threads and Badjoe's LP post.Really uncalled for and unseemly..Seems most on LP were looking forward to FR's demise.

Man, are you paranoid or what? I think its a legitimate question. After all, its not your everyday poster who has multiple windows open at any one time and has current and backdated versions of a thread all going at the same time like Saber says he does. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to simply to read about current events.
(Geez, and I thought cryptologists were thorough) ...

This place has NEVER been a church social. A church social, eh? I wouldn't know about them since I've never been to one.
How about some old-fashioned civility? Or are conservatives just as interested in smashmouth politics as Carville and Begala?
And BTW, most of the really heated, but substantive arguments disappeared from this site a while ago.
To: Conservababe
I'm going to bed. If I have a screename tomorrow, I'll see some of you around on the threads. Freegards.

I can't help when reading some of these post (while seriously totally confused about what the entire flap is) and remembering the early days of Compuserve, Prodigy, etc. back in the days we thought we were on the cutting edge with a 2400 buad rate modem and had to pay extra to go into chat or post on forums (thank goodness that in the forums you could download, read and reply offline).
Many of the things I've read in this thread remind me of the same arguments, whining, complaining about "fairness", attacks on the Sysops if someone got "banned" (as I did on the Republican Forum on Compuserve for 6 months once) that went on back then. And by "back then" I'm talking only around 1991-92 or so.
I think this is an incredible forum and I appreciate the hard work and money it takes to keep it running. I too have had a couple of post taken out but I didn't question as to why. And just as recently as a few weeks ago, I got a nice stern warning from Jim about a post.
Did I get angry and whine and complain? No, I realized I broke a rule. I re-read the rules. I didn't think before I posted and I could have made the real point I wanted to make without being so crass in my statement.
But all in all, I also realize that Jim owns this site. I do not. And I don't think that just because I donate money I have any "rights". Because if I, for some reason, get tired of it or feel mistreated, I'll leave. That's my responsibility, not Jim's or his staff.
And I laugh even harder when I hear the "people are leaving and starting their own sites so that must prove Jim sucks" arguments. Can't those type of people quit whining and realize they are just excersing their right to be Americans? No, some of them probably think FR is now an entitlement like cable, telephones, free health insurance, and not getting an annoying phone call.
Why can't they just go their merry way and do their own thing and be positive in their venture? Why do they feel they have to tear someone else down? I don't know about you, but that's the MO of the left wing.
