"The loser should drop out and endorse the victor."

Who decides who won the debate?

The loser will know. The winner will know. If it is a 'toss up', they debate again three days later. Cross linked sources of focus groups, polls, news coverage and editorials, conservative web sites such as this one, it will all be apparant. It will be good for the process and it will be good government. Nobody gets a 'pass' to the governor's office, without going through hell, and a debate is one of them.

So called conservatives who believe in 'good government' but at the same time who cannot get behind the idea of a 1/on/1 debate, are hiding something, are making lame excuses, are cowards, and are very poor citizens, IMHO. There will be every lame reason in the book given by them to avoid the debate or to say 'no' without saying 'no.' It will only be phrased in questions. Never a definitive statement, such as, "no, no debates, it weakens our candidate." We don't need this in government.
