The Philosopher's Song

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates himself was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away
Half a crate of whiskey every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart:
"I drink, therefore I am"

Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed!

LOL, how wonderful to see this here!

Well, and fondly, do I remember dragging my brother, who was a bona fide philosophy major from the University of Chicago (God alone knows how that was accomplished!), into the room to help me and my best friend get those philosophers' names right, so we could sing along.

As I just have! As I so often do! A thrilling tune, thrilling!

Oh, thanks MOM, you've really brightened my day!

My fave philosoph? Gotta say C.S. Lewis.

Or maybe Herr Budweiser, yeah, him too!

Ah, yes. The entire philosophy department of the university of wallawaroo! All Bruces. No Pooftahs!

on a more serious note: John Locke for the Essay concerning Human Understanding and the Essays on Civil Government; F.W. Nietzsche for his boldness and absolutely magnificent German prose.

It is virtually inconceivable to me that anyone could seriously admire a reactionary such as Joseph deMaistre.
