Please, stop. Actually, the imposition of a strong punishment for adultery was one of the things that made the principle of inheritance meaningful and possible. The existence of DNA testing makes adultery in some ways less severe of a crime than it used to be, though IMHO punishments for it should be more severe: someone who can be proven to have cheated on their spouse should be entitled to nothing from a divorce except to be glad to be out alive.
