More likely that it was a case of cowardice on the prosecutor's part -- because his decision-making on prosecutions of this type is shaped by the politically-correct hue and cry that would follow any decision to non-prosecute.

Great opus sneakypete. Folks like you will be missed. This was a great forum back during the end of the Clinton years and the election of W. There was opportunity for real debate on the serious topics that concern us all. Lately, due to the moderators, all dissent (i.e. anyone not projecting the party line) is censored. It has indeed become a "rah-rah" forum for the war with Iraq and the Israeli Likud party. I still log on daily to get fast breaking news and there are some great articles posted on a variety of subjects. Not to mention that the graphic set up for articles/posts is the best I've seen on any forum. But, indeed the discourse has become very shallow. I know you'll be lurking...think about coming back...we need you.

Sneakypete is a man who knows things that few people at this forum can appreciate. In particular, he knows that the unexpected lies out there, and he knows what it tastes like.

When making plans, a wise leader does not merely fain solicitous-ness; instead, he must find the courage to consider the situations which may present.

Since September 11, 2001, I have tried to find people here who are understanding of the incredibly poor airlift capacity that is [not] available for what the Bush Administration has been planning. I have repeatedly urged members of this forum to think about it, in the hopes that they would contact the Congress and the White House and then urge the increase in logistics support that we need, we will need, and we might need.

Maybe eight people are aware. Four, in only the last few days, when more stories have been posted here, relating the very late arrival of this and that gear for our troops.

We are not prepared to charge into a valley that is surrounded by our enemies. We do not have enough troops in the field. We do not have the airpower. We do not have enough medical help arranged. Our "arsenal of democracy" sits rusting away, or given away in the form of industrial capacity in the hands of our poltiical enemies.

The world is dividing around Iraq, much as it did when Hitler marched on Prague. The lines may here and there seem to be religious, but really, it is a matter of noticing the overall division, liberty v. fascist socialism. Naturally, the fascist socialists say that we who support liberty, are the fascists. It will take long time, sorting this out, confronting the animal reluctance to think among those who succumb to socialism; while there is little hope for The Party leaders.

Because I know that we cannot expect to follow our timetable of events, I happen to agree with Sneakypete that our invasion of Iraq is not wise at this time. As I said, he knows the taste of the unexpected.
