Groups of international protesters have gathered in several locations in the West Bank and Gaza during two years of Palestinian violence, setting themselves up as "human shields" to try to stop Israeli operations there.

Corrie was the first member of the groups, called "International Solidarity Movement," to be killed in the conflict.

Schnabel said there were eight protesters at the site, four from the United States and four from Great Britain. "We stay with families whose house is to be demolished," he told the Associated Press by telephone from Rafah after the incident.

Schnabel said Corrie was a student at The Evergreen State College, in Olympia, Evergreen College and was to graduate this year.

Excuse me, but I'm not someone who would EVER be characterized as of the "typical of the rabid pro-Israel mindset". And I STILL think that what this girl did was just plain DUMB! She knew the risk, hell she even noted it in some of that writing. You roll the dice, you take your chances. Unfortuneately, she rolled snake eyes for a group of people who care not what she did for them. Stalin would have referred to this dead girl as a "useful idiot". And if she wanted to so feverently defend somone's home from the destruction of "terrorist" forces, why then wasn't she doing that on her home soil? Why was she defending a bunch of terrorists who took to the streets in celebration of the death of 3,000 people in this country on 9/11? I refuse to buy this Pat Buchanan/Jim Moran (or is it Moron?) conspiracy theory that our plans for war and our support of Israel is the machinations of some "Zionist Cabal" within our own govenrment. It's hogwash and anti-sematic to boot. Hitler and his sympathizers blamed the Jews during WWII as well. So did the "America First" supporters prior to Dec. 7th 1941 who accused the same "Jewish Cabal" of trying to drag the U.S. headlong into WWII for their own personal selfish reasons and agenda's.
