So if the ATF or other police agencies start stopping cars on the freeways to search for guns, it's okay because they claim to be "actively on a counter-terror operation"?

Israel's nasty habit of destroying Palestinian buildings may be called an "anti-terror" operation, but if they have an ulterior motive of waging economic warfare on the Palestinian people and clearing land for "settlements", its pretty effective for that too.
