I think you're on the right track. Let's remember that Stockholm syndrome isn't some brilliant brainwashing technique, but a "syndrome."

It is something that happens to a large percentage of captives, hostages, slaves, etc ...

I would actually expect nothing else of this naive young girl with her very sheltered life. Let's hope she can begin to rebuild her identity and perspective in a healthy, healing way.
