George Ryan was a disaster. I don't see the IL GOP recovering for a long, long time.

Republicans in Tennessee face a similar legacy courtesy of former RINO Governor Don Sundquist. He at least made his Democratic Party pals happy.

If you havn't noticed, the moderators have been moving anti-"War on Drugs" postings to the Smokey Backroom almost immediately. That's unfortunate, as JimRob himself once posted a lengthy comment about the unconstitutionality of the federal component of the WOD.

I have not read through this whole thread, but the huge number of posts on the WOD would warrent this. Why would JimRob want FR to be seen as a drug forum?

If the law says something that is patently absurd, no, you don't leap to your death off a bridge; but, then our representatives wouldn't pass such an assinine law as that - unless they were smoking some good weed... How you feel about a law doesn't matter to the law itself. Our system does not care if you broke the law because you disagree or not. If you don't like a law and you break it, you are a criminal.

As to your querry about seatbelt vs anti-drug legislation, me thinks the term "bandying words with fools" is particularly relevant at this point. If you can't see a problem with comparisons of the two things on thier face, you would appear to have a drug problem, cause you're smoikin somethin to be that blind.

So you favor emptying our prisons? Giving day-schoolers the right to vote? Empty posterboard cliches don't fly around here, pal.

Neither do empty headed idiots. Confusing rights with privileges and jumping to conclusions about my beliefs only reveals your limited intellectual power. Rights are unalienable, they can not be taken because of the kind of person that you are labeled arbitrarily without due process. Voting is a privilege. Nobody has a right to avoid punishment when duly convicted of a crime. Everyone has a right to due process in court.

Under torture I revealed that Mr. Mojo is a double agent working for a terrorist organization. They will be at your home around 3:00 A.M.

So much for being broken up... eh?

Once they realized that you lied (and they will), expect your torture sessions to becomes a bit more .....enthusiastic (to understate the matter). You see, you're being tortured because you're a Muslim terrorist fanatic, and probably not even an American citizen. I, on the other hand, an a law-abiding, tax-paying American.

Don't you get it, Spooner? The Feds are after a certain type, and neither you or I fit the bill.

yet... Don't you get it? It is not abuse of power, it is the power to abuse. No rule of law and you have rule by men. ALL men will fall to the lust of power without limits placed on them. Throw out protection of rights for anyone and nobody has them.

First they came for the Islamists and I said nothing....

Do you not think we should be going after Islamic terrorists? They're lawbreakers, you know. You make it sound like we're after this group of completely innocent people.

Go after people for what they do. Not who they are or what they might do.
