Vanity: Is protecting Constitution no longer goal of Freerepublic.com?
Me

Posted on 02/28/2003 10:03:14 AM PST by libertylady

I have recently noticed that the home page of Free Republic no longer has the icon at the top which states that one of the goals of this website is protecting our freedom and our Constitution. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? I would hope that this is a temporary change and not an official declaration made by the staff of this website. With the lack of articles and lack of alarm posted on this website about the Draconian Patriot 1 and Patriot Act 2 I have began to wonder about whether this site really does support the Constitution.

That is the omnibus legislation for the 2003 budget that is six months late.

The Rats put all the cuts back in and more. They spent it by failing to agree to the budget and passing CR's> Bush had nothing to do with it and since it involves money already spent, it is moot. This mess was created by the Rat Senate in 2002! Not Bush or the admin.

What I posted was what was proposed. I do agree that Trent Lott made some deals that he should not have done. The rats reneged on their promises and screwed him royal. The intent was not to increase funding, but to cut it.

Keep withholding your vote for republicans and help elect more rats so they can do this again and then critisize Bush for being a big spender!

Because that is what they are doing. It is laughable and without the 60 votes we need in the Senate, it will continue.

IIRC, Darth was actively campaigning on this site for a liberal Clintinoid. He gets no pity from me.

”Oh, you mean decriminalizing theft would stop people getting killed in robberies?.”

No, more would die. Because there is an innocent victim involved.

"You noteably dodged the rest - as expected."

Again you are attacking my charcter. Liberals use the same tactic. Are you a closet liberal?

Tell me what question did I dodge?

Considering that Republicans are increasing the size of the government faster than Democrats (22 percent in only two years,) how does that qualify as an alternative?

It's kinda like the difference between incest and rape.

Ah, yes, you're white as the driven snow and wouldn't touch the stuff. I'm sure that's why you use bad arguments to defend legalization. Or perhaps you're just a willing dupe.
Who knows. But to say pot is safer? Who freakin cares if its safe? And safer than what? Cocaine? Gee it won't kill you in one use - must be safer. Truth is, this argument is good sounding bunk. I've grown up surrounded by potheads and druggies. And the only people these arguments will work with are complete idiots, naive teens and people who have no experience with this element of people. But that doesn't matter to you guys any more than real stories of how drugs damage people's lives and those around them do. It isn't about reality, it's about the wants and desires of people who are obsessed with the notion of being able to light a dube in most cases. I've known a lot of potheads in my life and they've been making all the same arguments to me for years. Suppose that's the reason most of them have been busted at least once for drunk driving and I haven't. As I've gotten older, I've gained a greater respect for the law, most of them have grown to hate the law and see the whole world as being against them. Gee, I wonder why. Keep tap dancing. Ya'll like to pick out your favorite pet arguments and avoid the nasty points you can't address - or dismiss them as if they are of no weight. Great tactics. Wonder where I've seen them before......

I didn't make a generalization about You're character specifically. I made a statement from experience about the character of the crowd that is largely behind this movement.
And I stand behind it. I could care less what your story is. If you're doing drugs, you should be in jail. If you aren't, good for you; but, you shouldn't be irresponsibly fanning this garbage either. Try addressing the points instead of trying to construct an attack against you to defend against instead of addressing the points you can't deal with. Or is reality not your schtick? Careful, you just said you don't use.

OK...now you've done it. How dare you mention chocolate pudding...inferior at best..without giving equal time to tapioca pudding...a clearly superior pudding in content, texture and most importently...taste. Those are fighting words, sir.

About 1.8 million deaths were attributable to the use of alcohol, about 26 percent of all drug-related deaths, with the proportion greatest in the Americas and Europe. Russia's alcohol problem was particularly pronounced. Illicit drugs caused about 223,000 deaths, or three percent of all drug-related deaths.

Is FR really a debate site anymore? Since the goal is to "replace as many Democrats as possible", has FR given up the idea of debate, and instead become solely a place for Republican activism?

I never considered FreeRepublic a "debate" site. It is an island in an ocean of liberal pap. A place one can go to ridicule and destroy leftist ideas and policies.

Drugs are far more dangerous than alcohol and more damaging.

This has to be the dumbest thing I have seen on FR in a while, What do you think alcohol is?

I've seen many of the posts here, and I have a question.

What's your winning strategy. I've seen bitching, and I've seen a lot of REACTION, but LITTLE PRO-ACTION. Bitching about the site isn't going to do anything. It isn't going to get constitutionalists elected.

Actually, I expect you probably have most of the "characters" here pegged better than most. I don't envy you your job.
