Vanity: Is protecting Constitution no longer goal of Freerepublic.com?
Me

I have recently noticed that the home page of Free Republic no longer has the icon at the top which states that one of the goals of this website is protecting our freedom and our Constitution. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? I would hope that this is a temporary change and not an official declaration made by the staff of this website. With the lack of articles and lack of alarm posted on this website about the Draconian Patriot 1 and Patriot Act 2 I have began to wonder about whether this site really does support the Constitution.

No, giving up is voting for a sure loser giving the office to a communist.

Well, the trouble with that is, it'll all go to the Democrats because you are not going to get many democrat voters to go along with your boycott. No thanks. I still like the Republicans a whole helluvalot more that I like the Democrats. I did not intend to suggest that one not vote for the best person available.
Just wanted to point out that blindly succumbing to the "if youre not with us, youre against us" type intimidation of the party oligarchy does not exactly encourage a patriotic American to defend the Constitution when the party heads decide to circumvent it in their pursuit of political profit.

Uhh... I don't think so. I'll take a Republican majority and hold on to it for as long as I possibly can. Thank you.

Jim, Republicans are the Left. They just take the time to say they aren't. When you are on the right fringe, everyone is to the left of you. It will always be so. You still have to convince enough of those people to follow you, and that means compromise.

Well, at this stage of the fight, "if not with us you're against us" is the name of the game. Both in the war against the terrorists and the war against the Democrat obstructionists.

My goodness. Look what I thought was a brief and innocuous question with a simple answer turned into. LOL. Mr. pitts, I disagree with you, but I will defend to the death... you know the rest.

Well, you'll never get me agree to your way of thinking so might as well let it go. Going out to counter-protest the unAmerican terrorist supporters now anyway. Bye bye.

Speaking of 2004, My son got some unsolcitited junk in the mail today. He is 17, and how they got his name and address I do not know.
It is from a outfit called Working Assets Long distance.(more like non-working assses)They claim San francisco as a home.
It says and I paraphrase:.......Dear Friend, Remember Idealism? Well, now there is a way to put it to work in todays more practical world. 1% of your bill is donated to progressive nonprofit groups, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE TO YOU!
You will be donating to causes that really resonate in your life! Peace, Human rights, equality, education, the environment!
Groups like Amnesty International, Chidrens Defense fund, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, Planned Parenthood, Rainforest action network and Doctor without Borders. Not to mention Greenpeace and the ACLU!
PLUS YOU GET A COUPON FOR 12 FREE PINTS OF BEN AND JERRY'S ICE CREAM!
For the idealist, I think you would agree that Working Assets is a truly practical way to make a difference in the world!
LOL! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

This can't go ignored. Our country should have told the U.N. to shove off a long time ago.
The U.N. dictates and trumps our Constitution. Why are we begging, bartaring and politiking our right to fight terrorism?
Does the Constitution speak of the United Nation's or warn of such entities or foreign countries?
Will the U.N.'s utter control and policy of our country go away when the leftist democrats are the minority and rendered powerless?
I am as hopeful as the next that progressive leftists are exposed daily and powerless minorities but I cannot help but be concerned about our future with a tyrannical United Nations that has a declaration and charter for the global world.
Move over Constitution, we've got U.N. charter: war maneuvers play into hands of internationalists

FF, I respect and share your passion for the Constitution and smaller government, as originally and so brilliantly envisioned. But I do think politics is the art of the possible, if you will forgive the cliche, and I think that the more Republicans we elect, the more empowered we will be in working toward that end.

THAT kind of tactic os something I'd like to see reined in. I get downright hostile about the kinds of violations of privacy and selling of personal information that gives these losers access to you, not to mention all kinds of other unsolicited crapola peddlars.

"
Therein lies the reason that WOD threads end up in the backroom. Libertylady is talking about protecting our freedom and our Constitution, even mentioning the Patriot Act 1 & 2, and you jump right into the WOD. It's in the backroom because there's more to the Constitution than your right to toke up. Maybe now those issues will get more prominent attention."
Bam! A hydrashock right between the eyes. Good response RP.

I'm sorry, but you don't compromise constitutional rights. That's how we got in this mess. That's like feeding a crocodile, hoping he eats you last. And refusing to participate, by voting for candidates no majority will follow, is like refusing to get into the boat until there are no crocodiles.
To: The Federal Farmer
Start at the bottom. Convince candidates for mayor, and state rep and house rep of the rightness of your position. Voting for Howard Phillips for President is an absolute waste of time; he couldn't govern if, by chance, he got elected.
In addition, no president, in the past 60 years, has reduced the size of government. The American people have what they want.
