While I occasionally disagree with the Pope, I think that he is correct on this issue. Clearly, this war does not meet the criteria for a Christian "just war".

Michael Savage said 2 weeks ago we would not go to war. We have waited too long. I hope he is wrong.

As a Catholic - I will refuse to do what the Pope asks, because he is wrong.
As for some on this thread mocking Catholics - do I get to mock the holy roller crowd as well - is that cool with all of you?

Clearly, this war does not meet the criteria for a Christian "just war". While I think it is perfectly valid for someone to analyze the situation and make that determination, it also feasable for someone to draw the opposite conclusion.
Here are a couple of articles that do so:
Is war with Iraq just?
War against Iraq is justified
I truly wish the pope and other prelates of the Church would take the time to explain how and why this war fails to meet Just War criteria. When Cardinal Ratzinger tried, he practically tripped all over himself, leaving Just War theory behind in favor of U. N. sponsored "multilateralism." To my knowledge, the pope himself hasn't explained hoe Just War criteria apply to this situation.

Clearly, this war does not meet the criteria for a Christian "just war".Clearly, you are mistaken.
"-the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;"
"-all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;"
"-there must be serious prospects of success;"
"-the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition."

Read Isaiah chapter 58, then come back and explain how the Pope's fast meets God's criteria for a fast.
