There are wonderful, loving, God-fearing clergy in the Catholic church, and then there are politically calculating bureaucrats. In this case, JP II has sided with the bureaucrats.

clintonh8r's planned menu for March 5:
BREAKFAST: Three eggs, over easy; grits; six slices of deli-cut bacon; two slices of Pepperidge Farm toasting bread; Tupelo honey; coffee; freshly squeezed orange juice.
LUNCH: Cheeseburger with everything; freedom fries; iced tea.
DINNER: Pork chops done some delicious way Mrs. clintonh8r makes them; sauteed beets; mashed potatoes; corn on the cob; a couple of glasses of a nice Clifornia cabernet; coffee; a large slice of Mrs clintonh8r's homemade lemon chess pie.
Middle finger raised in the direction of Rome. The Pope is one of the heroes of the 20th Century. Too bad he's losing the burning passion for freedom he used to have. Appeaser.

I'd suggest a nice cigar, too. If you really intend to blow it off right.

Hmmm, there's a great Chinese buffet in my town where you can really pig out. I'm putting it on the calendar.

Followed, of course, by a night of dancing, cocktails, and gambling - a celebration of the American materialism which Rome reviles so (for everybody but the "in" guys - like dictators and friendly bankers), but can't seem to function without.

While I occasionally disagree with the Pope, I think that he is correct on this issue. Clearly, this war does not meet the criteria for a Christian "just war".

I've always been afraid that some little Chinese guy will come out and yell "You eat too much. Ruin buffet. You go now" at me. And what I can't figure (unless the joint is a money laundry) how they do what they do for so cheap. Maybe I don't want to know.

Michael Savage said 2 weeks ago we would not go to war. We have waited too long. I hope he is wrong.

I don't give a DAMN about de-stablizing the middle east. We should be praying that earthquakes, floods and locusts find all of the world's muslims.
I do give a damn about protecting myself, my country, my beliefs.
Is the Pope siding with the Muslims?
To: TLBSHOW
Two questions, from a not always knowledgable Catholic:
1)This isn't binding in any way is it? I don't have to fast for peace do I?
2)Is the Holy Father implying that if one doesn't fast for peace and just fasts because it's Ash Wednesday, they are not "the faithful?"

Better get out your flame-retardant suit - it's gonna get warm in here.

Are you Catholic? If not, who gives a damn if it makes sense to you.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
Here comes the anti-Catholicism! Let the games begin!

THey hire illegals and off the boat immigrants, pay them little, employ their families, pay them little, and just go low budget on everything else.
