I wonder how you go about shooting someone in the back of the head while they're speeding toward you?

The simple fact that they were in plain (gangbanger) clothes and not wearinr Raid Vests or Jackets is ample to make this a bad shoot. The girl had no way to know if they were cops or hijackers.

I'm usually a reliable supporter of law enforcement, having family and good friends in that line of work, and some understanding of the difficulties of that trade. However, if this press report is accurate and reasonably complete this is, simply, murder.

If you're a thrill killer, there's no better line of work to be in than police work.

It is sad that this young lady lost her life. However, if the car she was driving was speeding toward the police officers, they needed to take action to protect themselves if nothing else. One question I do have: If the car was speeding TOWARD them, how did she get shot in the back of the head? I realize it's possible for bullets to ricochet and so forth, but this seems mighty strange.

This thread has been pulled.
Pulled on 02/12/2003 11:55 AM CST by Admin Moderator, reason:
Pulled. The WOD flamewars are going to stop one way or another. We are discussing options. We also do not intend, long term, to allow disrupting parties to get all of these threads relegated to the backroom or pulled- so this is a temporary measure until we figure out a plan of attack. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It's only a matter of time...

Looks like the Cops have a great addition to their job resume for the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team

"These are professionals," Robles said. "There's nothing professional about this." Yeah, it was real "professional", like in "The Godfather". A real pro hit. This was murder, plain and simple.
I'm suprised they didn't shoot the Dell guy during his drug bust. Smoke a joint and face death. I guess the NYPD doesn't have the balls of those tough-guy federal agents. It takes a real man to murder a child. Your tax dollars at work. Truly revolting.

...from a gunshot wound she suffered to the back of her head late Sunday night.
...agents fired four rounds at a car Villarreal was driving because the vehicle was speeding toward them...
How does someone get shot in the back of the head when the car is moving towards the person firing?
Was she looking backwards while driving forwards?

This is awful. When something happens like this, do federal police ever stand trial? I know that city police and county deputies do, and sometimes they're found guilty of wrongdoing. This may not be a Mount Carmel, but it's still a tragedy. Sometimes I think that the federales are above the law.

"It was no mistake," said Daniel Robles, a family friend who was in the car with the teen. "It was no accident." Robles said the agents were not wearing rain gear during the surveillance and claimed that they allegedly boxed in Villarreal's car and opened fire.
"These are professionals," Robles said."There's nothing professional about this."
Law officers declined to respond to Robles' version or to discuss details of the case Tuesday, citing a pending investigation.
In other words, they already have all the "facts" they need (the cops' version of the story), and the truth is not necessary for them to make a decision.
The cop-thug will get a paid vacation AND a medal for his "bravery".
