She has seen evidence related to the case that convinced her the reason he settled, is he knew he was caught.

Also...this (ex) family took the money and ran....agreeing to stay silent about it. I look at that this way.

Let's say this person hurt my cat...hurt it the point that it will never be same. So I sue this guy. NOW...do I take the settlement money and run..enabling and almost giving permission for this moron to hurt other cats?...or do I want to do all I could do to stop this guy from ever hurting another cat...thereby going to court. Well..seeing how I would never be able to live with myself if this guy DID hurt another cat.... and knowing I would be the enabler...and knowing I could have probably stopped him...I would never think about settling. Because I love all cats.
