[history]
A federal jury Friday found Ed Rosenthal, the author of how-to-grow books on marijuana and how to avoid the law, guilty of marijuana cultivation and conspiracy charges.
Deliberating for a day, the 12-member jury concluded that Rosenthal, the self described "Guru of Ganja," was growing more than 1,000 plants, conspiring to cultivate marijuana and maintaining a warehouse for a growing operation. He faces a maximum life term when sentenced June 4.

You believe Washington to be a libertarian caveman? Quite the opposite. He quashed the Whiskey Rebellion with force and preserved the law.

And I'm sure that he ran on that record too, right? Yes, Linder stressed the fact that he was an incumbent with a well established record. How could you be so clueless?

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. Thomas Jefferson

[According to the testimony...]
Those words are nowhere in the article that you linked. You even used what was in the article...
"...testified that he wrote Rosenthal bad checks for his plants..."
I don't see "According to testimony" anywhere in that article.
Are you ever right about anything?
Yes, but I don't think I'll be able to convince you that you're ever wrong about anything. GOD ROSCOE!
Do you always refuse to answer questions with independent thought?

And our nation has determined that the illicit drug trade is injurious to our society.
When was that determined and upon what information was that determination made?

When was that determined and upon what information was that determination made? Again?
This title may be cited as the 'Controlled Substances Act'.
§ 801. Congressional findings and declarations: controlled substances.
The Congress makes the following findings and declarations:
- (1) Many of the drugs included within this subchapter have a useful and legitimate medical purpose and are necessary to maintain the health and general welfare of the American people.
- (2) The illegal importation, manufacture, distribution, and possession and improper use of controlled substances have a substantial and detrimental effect on the health and general welfare of the American people.
- (3) A major portion of the traffic in controlled substances flows through interstate and foreign commerce. Incidents of the traffic which are not an integral part of the interstate or foreign flow, such as manufacture, local distribution, and possession, nonetheless have a substantial and direct effect upon interstate commerce because -
- (A) after manufacture, many controlled substances are transported in interstate commerce,
- (B) controlled substances distributed locally usually have been transported in interstate commerce immediately before their distribution, and
- (C) controlled substances possessed commonly flow through interstate commerce immediately prior to such possession.
- (4) Local distribution and possession of controlled substances contribute to swelling the interstate traffic in such substances.
- (5) Controlled substances manufactured and distributed intrastate cannot be differentiated from controlled substances manufactured and distributed interstate. Thus, it is not feasible to distinguish, in terms of controls, between controlled substances manufactured and distributed interstate and controlled substances manufactured and distributed intrastate.
- (6) Federal control of the intrastate incidents of the traffic in controlled substances is essential to the effective control of the interstate incidents of such traffic.
- (7) The United States is a party to the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961, and other international conventions designed to establish effective control over international and domestic traffic in controlled substances.

The article has Linder's campaign manager Bo Harmon stating, "He's not moderated his stance at all. He opposes the legalization of drugs, including medical marijuana. He's flat out opposed to medical use."
Looks like your crowing about Barr's defeat was as ill-informed as usual.

CSA cut-n-paste coming up!If Roscoe does use that then he is wrong. There were precedents well before the enactment of the CSA.
PHYSICIANS MANUAL--INFORMATIONAL OUTLINE of the Controlled Substance Act of 1970 Since 1914, the Congress has enacted more than 50 pieces of legislation relating to control and diversion of drugs. The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 became effective May 1, t971. It collects and conforms most of these diverse laws into one piece of legislation. The law is designed to improve the administration and regulation of manufacturing, distribution, and the dispensing of controlled substances by providing a 'closed" system for legitimate handlers of these drugs. Such a closed system should help reduce the widespread diversion of these substances out of legitimate channels that find their way into the illicit market.Got to go back to the beginning.

Please read the article I posted in response to your Post 450. It looks like Linder played his cards just right. Appears he voted for medical MJ as a GA Congressman. It appears that he used the Libertarian Party's campaign against Barr to his advantage, including saying all the right things to Insight magazine. You better do some research before pointing your finger at us "ignorant" and "clueless" liberdopians.

Oh I'm really going to love watching you try to worm out of this one! Your CSA cut-n-paste ain't gonna "cut it".
Read that again and go back to the beginning.
When was that determined and upon what information was that determination made?
That determination was made well before 1970 wasn't it?
To: Roscoe
Even Clinton wasn't that dishonest.
Clinton couldn't hide his stains either.
To: jayef
Please read the article OK
Citing Linder's request that the LP butt out and not "interfere" in the primary, Linder campaign manager Bo Harmon acknowledged the Libertarians' right to do as they choose. He figured the ads might "play a small roll in overall public awareness, but I don't see a whole lot of impact."Linder has not expressed any implicit gratitude to the LP by diluting his own harsh views on medicinal pot.
