A federal jury Friday found Ed Rosenthal, the author of how-to-grow books on marijuana and how to avoid the law, guilty of marijuana cultivation and conspiracy charges.

Deliberating for a day, the 12-member jury concluded that Rosenthal, the self described "Guru of Ganja," was growing more than 1,000 plants, conspiring to cultivate marijuana and maintaining a warehouse for a growing operation. He faces a maximum life term when sentenced June 4.

I just think that it is absolutely ridiculous that my government could choose to imprison me over my choice of intoxicant.
As do I. And especially under the guises that have been taken with marijuana.

"There never was a government without force. What is the meaning of government? An institution to make people do their duty. A government leaving it to a man to do his duty or not, as he pleases, would be a new species of government, or rather no government at all." -- James Madison

"people chose marijuana over alcohol."

Even if marijuana were legal, I doubt that would happen. Beer, wine, and hard liquor are all currently legal, yet people usually prefer one of the three.

For example, I've seen few beer drinkers who will "switch" to wine or hard liquor as their preferred drink. I just can't see people who prefer alcohol switching to marijuana.

Barr had a record. He was defeated based on his record. That stands as a fact alone and has nothing to do with his successor's performance. Based on what you have just shown me, his successor not only deserves to be defeated, but in my judgement is in violation of his oath and should be dismissed from the congress.

I guess you missed the conditional "if" just before that phrase. Nice parsing job.

[According to the testimony...]
That is nowhere in the article and that article isn't the transcript either. You indicated that you couldn't make any decisions or determinations until you saw the transcript. Are you now saying that you can do so with articles?
Short term memory loss?
How soon do you think it'll be before I'm again called a doper?
One instance agreement, the next minute insinuation, as the moment or desire warrants.

You didn't waste much time.

Your conclusion does not follow from your premise. That few people switch from one kind of puke-and-hangover juice to another says nothing about whether people would switch from puke-and-hangover juice to marijuana.

Hey! You can cut-n-paste quotes! Good for you!
You got a comment to put with that quote? Some insight? Anything?

Barr had a record.

So did Linder.

Another ignorant "point" crashes and burns.

I can do the same thing as you.

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. George Washington

Is the force applied comparable with the crime committed?
In the instance of drug prohibition I say no. What say ye?
Is government your servant or master? Would you obey a mere servant?

"That being said, I would be ecstatic if more people chose marijuana over alcohol."

Here you go. I read it.

Here's my point: Ain't gonna happen.

Don't try to convince yourself that, if marijuana were legal, people would switch from alcohol to marijuana. They'll continue "fighting, puking, stumblin' and stammerin'" every weekend, even though there is a "better way".

Oh no, Bucko, you said a transcript. Now you're using an article? You've moved the goalposts in your favor.

And I'm sure that he ran on that record too, right? In his campaign he went around his district in Georgia telling his constituency that he would propose camps for marijuana smokers.

False.

However, you said and I quote: "That is nowhere in the article..."

Are you ever right about anything?

Some will, some won't; why should we believe all will?
