Well, look at the first response,it probably knocked the pins out from under him.I would have felt personally attacked and I think Tony got discombobulated and while he did try to bring more information to the threads, very few people were willing to stay on point. And,he got more and more excited and accusatory.
The thread deteriorated to posters defending Bush and some constitutional references to rights and a lot of back and forth about religious denominations.
I am somewhat in agreement with those of you who said you could not judge Bush's commitment to conservatism based on his spokesperson's statement about his distancing himself from Thacker's statement about the "Gay Plague",I found in the other information a clear commitment to things ordinarily not espoused by conservatives. For ezample Fleisher said "The President's view is people with AIDS need to be treated with care, compassion and that's why his budget has provided so much money to help in the fight against AIDS"
Then if you read Remedy's post and other posts about the money dedicated to research and education and factor in the skyrocketing insurance costs now that so many government and private sector employers are paying for partners maybe you will see what Tony saw.Follow the money and connect dots. Things are a mess.
There it is Sardippity...in its entirety.
There's nothing in there about Thacker. There's nothing in there really except. "Petition Pres. Bush and say 'You lose my support because of your SUPPORT for homosexuality.'"
Many asked where he was coming from. Instead of answers from Tony they got zinged by Tony. It was a simple request. They wanted him to build his case. They wanted to hear the limits of his idea in terms of dealing with other free Americans.
