LOL, Wrigs.
Were you military? In the Army, when we were told in boot camp, air assault, whatever to "assume the position," it meant we should get down into the pushup position. What does Wrigs mean when he says "assume the post!" :>)
Switching to baseball cause I know you're a fan. What about the possible Rose reinstatement. Being a lifelong Reds fan, you know I think it's great.
Being a Cub.
Get over it Mom. You know d*mn well that doc doesn't consider anyone who disagrees with him to be a Christian.
He's an arrogant clymer.
That deserves to be repeated.
Can't speak for the boys, but Corin thinks you're all clymers.
Come on smart boy. Find me a post where Corin OR Ward said God doesn't know the future.
That is true in the sense that each individual needs to believe, in this instance in order to be able to receive the blessings of the kingdom. During Christ's earthly ministry, and shortly thereafter, these blessings would only come when Israel as a nation believes and accepts Christ for who He is. God's dealings with Israel have always been on the basis of a nation, but there have also always been those who believe and those who don't. Had the Jewish leadership in the Sanhedrin believed that Jesus is the promised Messiah, the nation would have proceeded to the next event in the prophetic calendar of redemption for Israel. Keep the big picture in view.
You say that this bears repeating, and you are correct, but for the wrong reason.
I almost commented when I first saw this written, but decided to hold my tongue until someone jumped in to concur. You don't see the implications of what the "fool" said, do you?
You don't see that your identification with the rebellion of God is the natural result of the depravity of man. God is perfect, holy, and always right. You, on the other hand, want some wiggle room, and cannot stand being told that there is only one Sovereign in the universe. As a result, I can fully understand why you would "understand" Satan's rebellion.
Putting aside doc's strident defense of his position for one moment, we see that your reaction to his position, if correct, is very much akin to Satan's hatred for God. As the_doc says, in some ways it is pretty funny.
Sorry Jerry. That IS the point. Regardless of any other implications, doc is an arrogant jackass.
You call him strident. I call him a jerk.
And all but a handful of the posters and lurkers here can see that. It really is quite funny.
But, I've spent far too much time here today. As much fun as it may be to spar with the Pharisees, I've got other things to do.
While it is perfectly acceptable (IMHO) to be a "pan-millenialist" it would be a tragic mistake to be a "pan-gospelist".
Either God is completely sovereign over salvation, and has chosen us according to His good pleasure, or He hasn't. While the eschatological passages (once again, IMHO) are still rather murky, the soteriological passages are not. One is either proclaiming the Gospel, or they are proclaiming another gospel, and are accursed.
As a result, it would not be prudent to see how it all "pans out in the end" with respect to the Gospel.
What you don't like is the fact that he cannot be moved off of his position, and that you have a hard time refuting his arguments.
Sadly, even drstevej has fallen victim to this mentality.
You missed the entire point. One can understand the reasons for another's actions without agreeing with or endorsing them. It was in that light that I made the comment. The remark was in reference to doc's judgemental comments, and must be taken in that light. It was (and is) an opinion, nothing more.
You're trying to read into what I said things I never said or believe. I have to believe that the reason you do so is to find something to discredit me about in order to try to negate anything else I may say by appealing to my supposed "guilt" in this area. That is dishonest as a debate tactic, and as a Christian principle of conduct.
I don't mean with respect to other than the calvarm debate.
