In reality, such an idea would work just dandy 'cept fer America would allow it to begin to flourish and then a DemonRAT Administration would find some excuse to use America's military dominance to take it over as soon as it started making America look over-regulated and sluggish in comparison.
In any event, if such a strategy were to work, Alaska would be the State to do it in, and the Republic of Alaska would need to create strong military alliances with both Russia and America...and the RofA would need to become a nuclear nation!!

I don't have that much faith in anarchy. But then again don't forget that many libertarians do support state-run rehab centers. So I don't know that they'd be that interested in hands-off government.
