Like maybe DW was assisting whitmore/rowland in setting up some kind of network? Maybe DW met Rowland at Dad's, told him that he's an engineer and could to some tech work for him?

If LE already had DW tied to rowland through Dad's, maybe THAT is what focused them on him so quickly.
