Our Republic and Our Free Republic
9-6-02 | Joe Phillips

Posted on 09/06/2002 8:17:16 AM PDT by BADJOE

History teaches some very good lessons. They are hard to learn but our forefathers did a great job.

From the beginning of time man has overthrown one form of centralized government only to re-establish another one in its place. Our forefathers understood this far better than anyone ever had. They said governments are the eternal enemy of free men. They said that in order for man to remain free it would take a bloody revolution every other generation, unless you bound down (bastard) government with the chains of the constitution.

On another site this week a poster asked if anyone else hated government as much as he did. I replied to him

"Hell !! I thought you were not a good American if you didn't love our country and hate our government.

At least that is how I have always felt about it"

I think our forefathers had the same attitude that I have now. And I think it is inherent in the average Americans attitude to distrust and have disdain for any government, including ours. One of the hardest conclusions I had to arrive at as a young man, after having been a product of the public school system, was that our government was not on our side. As James Forrestahl, former secretary of the Navy, who suffered a mysterious death, once said about our State Department's foreign policy, " Stupidity is never a mark of consistancy. If they were merely stupid, they would occasionally make a mistake in our favor".

Newt Gringrich put it in a humourous manner when talking about the attitude of Europeans. He related the following story. If you go to Europe and drive on the Autobahn, you feel pretty good cruising down the highway at 100 mph when some some German passes you doing 140 mph. Now he said if the Bundestag passed the 55mph speed limit law, every German would dutifully obey that law, untill the next election. They would vote the 55 mph crowd out of office and the no speed limit crowd in. In America Newt said "A speed limit sign is a benchmark of opportunity.

It is obvious that Yankees and Euros have entirely different attitudes about government's edicts. There are darn few Americans who do not break the speed limit laws everyday.

Now we come to the Free Republic. Once a free wheeling, joyful site for news and discussion of politics, economics, philosophy, ethics and morals. I could not understand the transformation that has taken place in the last six months. Camaraderie, the sense of family, and cooperation seems to have disappeared. Are the Freepers exhibiting the same disdain for the new FR as Americans have for our government?

I really like your football analogy. It is time we took control of the game ... one damn corrupt dimocrat at a time, then one damn corrupt republican at a time! The trick is to start with the ones who will do the most harm the fastest and dimocrats have a history that proves them the most dangerous to this nations contniuing safety and to the most innocent.

Yeah, defintely the Dems first.

Because you do nothing but cruise threads to start fights and bash, can I ask what your HONEST intent is on these threads?

To foment dissent?
To try and gather others to your anti- FR rhetoric?
To waste bandwidth?
To be a disruptor?

What is it you are accomplishing?
Have you recruited any converts?
Do you look for the mildly disgruntled and exploit them?

Or are you paid by the Democrats to post on these threads?
Or by some other pseudo party?

About time he ran out of words. He ran out of sense, logic, and courtesy a long time ago.

I repost others absurdities all the time.
It's amusing to watch the sputtering indignation as they see their own foolishness directed back at them.

You are so right - the less than 1%ers are always trying to vote to "teach a lesson" rather than to win. They end up doing neither, and are therefore irrelevant.

Onward and upward to victory this November. We must displace the leftists and then move on to defund them.

Hey guys. I found this important information and decided to post it ASAP. After all we have an election coming up.

Platypus Breeding Cycle

June
  • The size of the testes and sperm production in males captured between July and the end of October,  indicate that this is the main breeding period.
  • There may be some overlap between the mating and lactation season however,  as females have been caught that were producing milk in late September.
  • It is assumed that gestation lasts about a month and incubation roughly ten days.
  • Lactation is known to take 3 1/2 months, this means  young that emerge  from the burrow in  February would have resulted from a mating that occurred in September.

I repost others absurdities all the time.

It's a sign of mental illness to copy and save the posts of others on an internet message board.

AAA, if you ever drive around the suburban areas of our biggest cities, and wonder how in the world all these people can afford $300,000+ houses ... well, somebody is getting down with the events and fact of a platypus "lactation season" ... and most likely, our tax money is funding it!

Its a sign of your mental illness, fufkin, that you follow me about and make weird comments on my tactics in political feuds.
Why not attack my politics? To dumb?

Looking at what you offer in your profile, it's a presentation of past discourse with JimRob. Completely out of context.

Why would you highlight ANY interactions you've had in the past, especially with this forum's sponsor? Robinson, over the years, has taken everyone back from banishment who has an honest heart and a good-willed agenda.

That's never been you.

The first week I was here on FR, I noted how sweet and funny Billie was, how awesome DFU (he was serving an eviction notice on the Clinton WH that week) was, how welcoming and aware the Chief Negotiator was, and what a dickhead you were.

First impressions are the best.

Now run along. Bother someone else.

Duckbill mammals scare me. It ain't right.

I do like the graphic, however, that's a platypus who's leaning up against a friendly wall and lactating like Madonna on "VH-1 Presents". That duckbill's pup looks a little like a Latino dancer too.

Sure ... no duckbill reproductive data can ever best the data of plumbing joints, subassemblies and schematics ... but any bandwidth sucking campaign is ok in my book. If your posting of a platypus sex life freezes TLB from posting that picture of he and Coulter, we've won a little scrum of humanity!

In my case, your taking my cyber-efforts from FR to Google.com and "Platypus and Salma Hayek", kept me from my intent to start a vanity thread entitled "Does This Look Infected to You?"

THE LEFT WING IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OR RATHER IT WAS TILL 1996! WHY INVITE THEM OR FOR THAT MATTER TOLORATE THEM IN THE GOP? IT WAS NOT THEIR POLICIES THAT GOT THE GOP IN POWER IT WAS CONSERVATIVE VALUES! REMEMBER? WHY PRAY TELL BRING THE GOP & YOURSELF DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL

Nothing happened in 1996 to change the world. Unless you work within the GOP to pursue a conservative agenda that is shared by almost all here, you'll be powerless.

Six moderate-liberal GOP Senators don't make the other 43 bad. Trent Lott scored a 100 the last two sessions as scored by the American Conservative Union.

Let's get rid of six bad RINOS in the Senate, the 40 distrustful Pubbies out of 218 in the House, and let's beat 4 or 5 unctuous RATS in the Senate who are sweating down to their gonads right now. This is a game of inches.

If you don't pitch in, if you just bitch and then abandon the battle in a bogus snit, then you shouldn't show your face around here. The GOP IS .... IS ... IS ... IS ... the Conservative Party in American politics. That's a fact Jack.

BINGO

This is where it's at, for the forum and the nation.

In all of my activism, I've learned the hard way that you can work in a postive fashion for a politician for years and he would never even know you damn name. You show up once to put your foot in his ass and he never forgets you.

Free Republic is working in the positive now, which is fine and apporpriate as there's a time for everything. Our next mission should be picking off some these RINO ruiners. We won't get all of them but if we focus correctly we can make examples of some of them. Make an example of just one of them and all of a sudden the rest start wanting to hear what you have to say.

It would do a lot towards the cohesiveness of FR as nearly EVERYONE hates RINOS, we wouldn't have much to bicker about.

We've got to harness this power we've been given, we can't afford to water it down or waste this great gift.

Look at the science. Which FReeps are the most effective, the ones where we support something or the ones where we are angry and motivated? Think about it, most of us came here (in fact the forum was started) out of anger.

Righteous anger is appropriate, as God hates evil. We have to go to war again or our soldiers are going to find other battles.

Am I making any sense?
