On the few minutes of news I caught today, they were talking about the family of one of the girls whose body was just found in Oregon--I forget if it was Ashley Pond or Miranda Gaddis' family. Anyway, the family had asked to be left alone by the media. They obviously had no desire to be out in front of the cameras, but wanted to mourn privately. I could not help but contrast that with the Van Dams. In front of the cameras at every possible opportunity.

They have a media representative that feeds stories to the press. The press spins sympathetic stories about them with the promise of later exclusive interviews. I have an aunt that works for CBS and she explained to me how it works. Sad, but true.

I contrasted the Van Dam's behavior with Samantha Runnion's mother, who remained in seclusion while the search was on. Did you catch the statement by Samantha's dad? Truly hearbreaking...
Another camera hog: Rusty Yates.

That little point is missed by soooo many.
