Always HAS been the plan. Once Israel realized that regime change wasn’t going to happen in Iran, they need to keep the way going until it does.
I’m not saying it’s wrong. They have their desire for safety and stability in the area, and that’s pretty much what it would take to achieve it.
I don’t think Israel’s position is defensible, in the long run.
