I wish the VA offered that choice. Maybe they do. I never thought to even ask. Then, I’d wonder how long such blood could be realistically preserved for?
Usually you donate for yourself or someone else within a few weeks of a scheduled procedure. Whole blood will be good only for 6 or 7 weeks of storage. I’m not a phlebotomist.
