Covid boosters increase risk of virus that harms brain health, new study finds

Scientists have found that the risk of shingles may rise slightly in the weeks following a Covid booster shot.

The discovery comes from researchers at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, who analyzed electronic health records from more than two million people aged 12 and older who had received at least one Covid vaccine.

The study found that the risk of developing shingles within 28 days of vaccination increased by seven percent when all doses were combined and by 21 percent after the third, or booster, dose of an mRNA vaccine.

Shingles, which appears as a painful, blistering rash, is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which most people first encounter in childhood as chickenpox.

Separate research found that adults aged 50 and over who were hospitalized with shingles were seven times more likely to develop dementia.

Among men of all ages, researchers found a significantly higher risk of shingles after receiving a vector-based vaccine, with a 38 percent increase.

The authors noted that the increase in shingles risk after a booster mRNA dose is small, temporary, and limited to certain subgroups, and most cases are treated in general practice rather than requiring hospitalization.

The study comes as the FDA is drawing up plans to put a 'black box' warning on Covid vaccines, the agency's most serious warning over potential side effects, reports suggested.

The new study, published in the peer‑reviewed journal Drug Safety on December 11, suggested that shingles might occur after a Covid booster because important immune cells, called lymphocytes, can be temporarily depleted after vaccination, which may allow the virus that causes shingles to wake up.

Repeated vaccine doses, especially a third booster, might also make T-cells less active for a short time, and T-cells help control viruses that hide in the body.

I have been getting the shingles shot the last few years after my uncle got such a horrible case of them. No thank-you.

If you’ve had chicken pox (I thought everyone did when they were kids), then it protects you from shingles?
Maybe I should tell the V.A. so they will stop trying to push me to take a shingles vax.

Lest we forget.....

Thalidomide was discovered in 1954 by German pharmaceutical company Chemie Grünenthal. It was originally intended as a sedative, but was later used to treat a variety of other conditions

Thalidomide was officially banned in the United States in 1961.

Explanation

Thalidomide was withdrawn from most markets by 1961.

Thalidomide was prescribed to pregnant women in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It was used to treat morning sickness.

Thalidomide was promoted for pregnant women in West Germany, Spain, and other countries.

Explanation

West Germany: Thalidomide was available over-the-counter in West Germany when it was first marketed in 1957. It was promoted for morning sickness, anxiety, and trouble sleeping.

Spain: Thalidomide was widely available in Spain throughout the 1970s and possibly into the 1980s. Other countries: Thalidomide was also recommended for pregnant women in other countries.

Thalidomide was initially thought to be safe for pregnant women, but it caused birth defects. It was removed from the market in Europe in 1961.

Birth defects

Thalidomide caused skeletal deformities, such as phocomelia (malformation of the limbs), amelia (absence of legs and/or arms), and absence of bones.

Those who survived had problems with their heart, urinary tract, eyes, and limbs.

About 40% of infants who were severely harmed by thalidomide use during pregnancy died around the time of birth.

The drug was never approved by the FDA for pregnant women in the US.

The thalidomide scandal led to stricter drug testing and licensing regulations in the United States.

Covid-19 jabs and boosters were and are free drug trials for big pharm. They got away with lying daily, weekly and by the hour. The thalidomide scandal had more recognition because of the physical birth defects, regarding covid-19 jab, what new horrors will we see unfold.

Myocarditis, weaken or compromises immune systems, miscarriages. There have been hundreds of known healthy regular people, athletes, pilots who have just dropped dead after receiving the MANDATED covid Jab.

Dr. Anthony Fauci lied, the lame main stream media was a willing co conspirator in that lie....there were numinous others too and when the butchers bill comes due for it all we will see them squeal like the pigs they are.

So, in your opinion, a vaccine that saved millions of lives was a ‘bad idea’?

It’s my opinion that the not-a-vaccine did not save millions or even thousands of lives.

Do you work for Big Pharma? I’m just curious.

...a vaccine that saved millions of lives...

There is zero evidence that millions of lives were saved. Zero.

There is evidence to the contrary.

And it is not a vaccine regardless of what the Pfascists at Pfizer, MurdeRNA, and their cohorts such as Fauci called it.

not quite, I believe that if you had chicken pox as a kid and then again much later in life, or many times later in your life that it inspires your immune system to protect against shingles.

the Texan guy disagrees and I read a couple of the recent papers on this. Some seem to agree with him, but I read some others that agree with me.

the best thing we can say is that the science is unsettled.

On the other hand the studies that seem to refute the hypothesis were funded by the people who make the pox and/or shingles vax.

regardless we all agree you don’t want to get shingles.

Typical anti-vaxxer myths. There is a multitude of evidence that the vaccine saved millions of lives for those who search for the truth. Admitting that it is a vaccine undermines the anti-vaxxer narratives.

No, there isn't. That's speculation at best but actually propaganda and coverup.

And again, it's not a vaccine. Firstly because the korporations and their cohorts in government changed their definition of vaccine, and secondly because it was PROVEN ineffective by O M M O I R C O R N O I N C .

It has not been proven EVER that it is safe or effective in preventing covid. Many who took that jab get covid over and over.

It has maimed and killed more people than it ever saved.

And calls people who don’t embrace the Fauci/Gates concoction “anti-vaxxers.”

That’s so stupid. First, the Fauci/Gates concoction is not a vaccine.

Second, most of us who chose not to take the Fauci/Gates concoction *are* vaccinated for a variety of things.

Personally, due to my travels, both as a military brat kid and as an adult, some to somewhat sketchy locations, I’ve been vaxxed out the ying-yang.

Name two or three vaccines that were 100% effective.

If you can’t argue against a position with facts, you can always resort to an ad hominem.

It’s a legitimate question. I’m curious as to what drives someone to so diligently support and defend such a controversial shot.

We did have a very pro-shot poster on here back when Biden was exhorting people to take this shot who admitted that he was in pharmaceutical sales.

I was wondering if yours is a similar motivation.

No, I’m retired and have nothing to do with pharmaceutical sales although I did have a couple of dates back 40 years ago with a woman who did pharmaceutical sales. Haven’t seen her in 30 years.

My motivation is simply to correct the misinformation prevalent in this forum. There are multiple posters who accept without question any criticism of vaccines. They reject any positive information as propaganda while eagerly accepting negative information regardless of the often questionable sources.

There are many valid criticisms of the response to the pandemic just as there are many invalid conspiracy theories which are often posted here. (Vaccines are not part of a conspiracy to depopulate the planet.) You can accept that vaccines saved lives without supporting all the pandemic policies.

One thing I have noticed is the arguments against current vaccines are the same arguments, in a slightly different form, that were raised throughout the history of vaccines. That is evidence that many arguments are not based in fact but are emotional.

One other point. It’s popular to accuse those supporting the vaccines as being financially motivated while ignoring the financial motivations behind those attacking vaccines. Many of the anti-vaccine personalities are selling unregulated alternative products. They should subject their products to the same criteria they use to evaluate vaccines.
