Israel approves settlement plan to erase idea of Palestinian state [barf alert]

A widely condemned Israeli settlement plan that would cut across land which the Palestinians seek for a state received final approval on Wednesday, according to a statement from Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

The approval of the E1 project, which would bisect the occupied West Bank and cut it off from East Jerusalem, was announced last week by Smotrich and received final go-ahead from a defense ministry planning commission on Wednesday, he said. […]

A German government spokesperson commenting on the announcement told reporters on Wednesday that settlement construction violates international law and “hinders a negotiated two-state solution and an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank”. […]

The reason the west (mainly England and France) carved up the Middle East however they saw fit was pure FAFO. The Ottoman Empire joined WW1 on the losing side. Big mistake.

Stop making up red hereings. There was no “Arab majority” and the powers that held the Mandate had every obligation to fulfill the creation of the Jewish state. Opus?

But I must ask, what right did the Jewish minority in 1948 (they made up only 1/3 of the population) have to declare the creation of a Jewish state without approval of the Arab majority? And how can they claim ownership over territories that were overwhelmingly Arab?

Look at the maps in my post 10 and a reminder of FAFO in post 13, including the recent ownership of white European slaves that the OE didn’t free until a few years before WW1. I think with that backdrop it would be a bit unrealistic to expect the WW1 and WW2 Allies to worry about treating this Muslim group or that Muslim group wrongly when figuring out what the Allies thought was best for that land.

And IIRC the OE itself had a census showing that the largest ethnic group in Jerusalem before WW1 were the Jews. The European Jews had for years been buying land from owners in the dwindling OE and moving there.

There has never been a country called Palestine in the sense of a fully independent, sovereign state existing within the modern nation-state system before the establishment of modern-day Israel in 1948

The League of Nations Mandate for Palestine did not call for the establishment of a Jewish state:

Whereas the Principal Allied Powers have also agreed that the Mandatory should be responsible for putting into effect the declaration originally made on November 2nd, 1917, by the Government of His Britannic Majesty, and adopted by the said Powers, in favor of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, it being clearly understood that nothing should be done which might prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country;
Additionally, the State of Israel was not formed by the British under the League of Nations mandate, which ended on May 14, 1948. Rather is was unilaterally declared by the Jewish authorities. So I again ask, what right did the Jewish minority in 1948 (they made up only 1/3 of the population) have to declare the creation of a Jewish state without approval of the Arab majority?

Never mind citing the League of Nations, who were not the authority in Mandatory “Palestine”.

It was the League of Nations that assigned the mandate to Great Britain. The British never exercised sovereign power over Palestine.

There are Egyptian Arabs in Gaza. Shove them back into Egypt.
There are Jordanian Arabs in the West Bank. Shove them back into Jordan
There are Syrian Arabs in the Golan Heights. Shove them back into Syria.

Annex all those territories into Israel.

Anything else is madness.

It does not matter what you call them. Half of the population in Israel/Palestine are Arabs and have as much right to live there as the Jewish population. Why do the Jews have greater rights than the Arabs?
