A New York Navyman and an NYU student were happy to oblige The Post’s request to recreate the famed 1945 V-J Day photo from Times Square, during a Fleet Week bash.
Brandon O’Connell, a sailor stationed at Chambers Street, showed up ready to mingle at the Fleet Week Open Bar Singles Party Friday night to meet “somebody that would like to have fun.” Early on in the evening, the Rochester native was hitting it off with Evangeline Lim, a master’s student at NYU, who told The Post he was “nice and cute.”

I’m starting to think I was the only Navy dude who never got nasty with the gals either overseas or at home.
Guess the, “Cherry Jubilee,” slideshow in boot camp made an impression....
I had a soft spot for the winter working blues. Looked like the police uniform of the T-1000 in Terminator 2. Minus the cover, of course..
OH!
USS PELELIU.
32nd Naval Station, San Diego.
1993 - 1997
“The uniform gets them all the time” - MM1 Holman, USS San Pablo.
Pulled into Lima, Peru, and they treated us like movie stars wanting our autographs. We had to wear our uniforms when we went out on town.
Sorry ladies, they’re all gay pro aborts.
I wouldn’t expect a Scottish lass to recognize an American uniform and I would guess that the German’s English was very good if not excellent, but I think someone should let the woman know that her date isn’t an American serviceman.
Jawohl. There are two German warships participating in NYC Fleet Week this year.
It looks like a good time was had by all, and goon on the ladies for participating!
^^good on, not goon on. I wish FR had an edit button.
Hahahahahaha...say “chancre” 100 times really fast with a graphic image the flashes in front of your eyes each time!
That replicates the effect they hoped to have on young men in boot camp...
I wish I had been able to wear the Crackerjacks. I wore the Ice Cream Man uniform.
What is “Cherry Jubilee”?
What uniform was that?
OK, that was funny.
I did the same thing.
You must have been an east coast swabbie. Any PACFLT sailor well remembers Subic Bay in the Philippines with all the "hostesses" and every other entrance on Magsaysay Drive being a bar in the 70's and 80's. It was dubbed Sin City. There was even a time that penicillin shots were require for all ship's company when heading back to the States, whether you complained of the clap or not.
We called it "Adult Disneyland". It was the rare sailor who could maintain his loyalty, abstinence, celibacy for their female companions back home. Many even broke their vows to their religion, the Filipino dancers were so hot. There were other SE Asian ports with their women that were just as enticing. My favorite was Taipei in Taiwan. Just gorgeous.
I think it’s a bubblehead Brit.
