I don’t believe in dual citizenship. It means you don’t back either country.
I have family that emigrated here. They removed their citizenship from their native countries.
Now they are only US citizens. Anyone who can vote in elections in two countries is a fraud.
And what about fighting in a military of a foreign power?
Many do this. (younger ones...)
I am a dual citizen - US and Ireland.
I have it to honor my ancestry who fought oppression for 800 years.
I am an American, who is very proud of my Irish ancestry.
I spent 34 years in uniform including two combat and one peacekeeping deployments.
My grandfather, my father, myself and my son went to war for this country.
If Ireland ever declared war on the US, there is no doubt where my loyalty would lay.
This is the crux of the natural born citizen debate
A boy born of a US mother in the US couod be a NBC, aw! but the father is a Kenyan/British citizen. The son may have a choice.
Washington and Jay in a letter which you can find online, were adamant that a person who could be a “foreigner” should not be in command of the military (and certainly not a Brit after the war they just fought and another on the way.)
If you have a choice, you would by definition not be an NBC of a country. Now that I have gone off on tangent I will go to bed and check in tomorrow for my zots.
