But they still cater to their incarcerated child's every whim. You'd be surprised at how much stuff visitors brought in for the inmates. 20 years ago, they were allowed three packages a month, or 50 lbs. total, whichever came first. I'm sure that rule has changed since I retired. Inmates in New York State prison still earn money if they have no program, or job to go to. They can also mailorder things with the money in their accounts, and visitors could leave an inmate up to $50 a visit when they came, plus they sent checks and money orders to the business office to have it added to their account. Going to prison today is like going away to college. Your every whim is taken care of, and somebody else is paying for it.
