he Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is blaming barriers to high-quality prenatal care and systemic racism for the alarming 30 percent increase in newborn syphilis cases in the past year, but the real cause is much more complex than it is willing to admit.
The problem is bigger than anyone realizes. In some parts of the country — like Mississippi — congenital syphilis cases have risen 900 percent over the past five years. In just the past year, syphilis rates in the general population increased by 17 percent. There has been an especially alarming 80 percent in the rates of syphilis in the past five years. Although Black Americans comprised about 30 percent of primary and secondary syphilis cases with a rate of 67 cases per 100,000, gay men and other men who have sex with men have the highest rates. The CDC reports that “even though gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM) account for only 4 percent of the United States male population, they account for more than one-third of reported syphilis cases. Men who have sex with men remain disproportionately affected by syphilis.”

More reasons not to date anymore. So many diseased people out there, and many with lifetime diseases that won’t go away.
Its better, but hardly a guarantee of no problems.
Look how women freak out at the mention of by default having a paternity test when a baby is born. You’d think the world was ending. Now we have a couple states that are doing this and women reacted like the world was ending.
Does MSM mean Main Stream Media .... lot of queers in that class.
I do believe you will discover the escalating syphilis rates are home-grown. Promiscuous gay sex certainly did not emerge just when the borders were opened.
I remember the joke from the 80s, where the gay guy comes out of the Doctor’s office all happy proclaiming, “It’s Syphilis!”
When all it took was a shot of penicillin to get rid of it, that would be good news in some circles.

Never would have thought Mississippi was a hotbed of homosexuality and polyamory. I always thought it was a pretty traditional sort of place.
Babies can also get it from their drug using or prostitute parents and be asymptomatic and bring it to daycare where they share slobbery toys with other infants.
Infants who get hep b are frequently asymptomatic and end up with untreated chronic hepatitis resulting in liver cancer or liver failure 50 years later in life.
Illegal immigration from countries with high rates of hep doesn’t help things either.
Infant vaccination isn’t a horrible idea given current conditions of drug use, human trafficking and illegal immigragration.
Those are terrible reasons. What are the odds a US kid is going to be trafficked or be subjected to illegal drug use, one Day One of life, such that it has to be the stand-alone first vaccine given to a human being?
Not just escalating syphilis rates have grown with all the rape cases but many other deadly diseases have also it’s a plague going on now tanks to Biden and party.
Given the level of drug use these days, higher than you think. Many young children are living in drug homes, exposed to all manner of body fluids and excrement.
Needles and excrement litter play grounds and public spaces.
Parents think because they aren’t users that their children won’t ever be exposed, but you literally can’t know that.
And worse, you won’t know it because young children almost always remain asymptomatic, so it goes undiscovered and untreated until the liver damage becomes apparent 50 years later.
America is no longer a safe and clean country.
