The scam calls have gotten so bad that studies show many Americans simply refuse to answer the phone.
If I don’t recognize the number, I don’t answer.
I get about 10 “Scam Likely” calls a day.
Except in rare occasions, I won't answer a call from a number that's not already in my phone. The caller, if it's a legitimate call, can leave a message. The problem with robo-calling is that the attempt doesn't cost anything if the caller doesn't answer.
In addition to fines and jail time, robocallers need to be charged a fee for every attempt.
Phone spammers are a victim of their own overzealousness, just like junk mailers. When people used to get 1 or 2 pieces of junk mail a day, they might at least look at them, but when you get 10-20 pieces a day, they all go straight in the garbage without a glance.
I don’t answer my phone anymore. Anyone who knows me knows to send a text first. My customers, that are left after our crap gov shut down the state, know to email first or just stop in for a visit. I am not allowed to have an unlisted number being an s corp. I get dozens of calls from 9am to noon and it tapers off to about 4 an hour after noon.
‘Unavailable’ always goes unanswered here. And blocked! Something needs to be done. After the area code are 3 numbers, like 506 and the last 4 numbers change.
There has got to be a way.
