My ancestry is American since before the American Revolution. I'm more of an Anglophile. Been over there for a couple of extended visits, worked for a company with offices over there, and I read the Brit media often.
The British playwright George Bernard Shaw said, "England and America are two countries separated by the same language."
Sounds as though you would do fine there as well.
