EVERYONE said “missile.” Literally, local radio had dozens and dozens and dozens of people on, and every last one of them who described seeing the event before hearing a boom described seeing a bright, white line launch into the sky, and hit the plane.
I have read that someone recovered the first stage if a missile from the drink.
