Remember when Donald Trump said on the campaign trail in 2016 that he was going to do so much winning that the American people were going to get sick of all the winning? Well, it appears that Bill Maher agrees with him.
Appearing on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time on Monday night, the Real Time host spoke at length about his belief that Democrats are always losing the narrative to Republicans and that it has only gotten worse in the Trump era.
“A lot of times, he’s just owning the libs,” the comedian told CNN host Chris Cuomo. “That’s what Republicans do in this era. More than any policy, they want to make liberals cry.”
After saying the Republican base hasn’t caught on to Trump’s bait-and-switch in cutting taxes for billionaires while claiming he’s “for the little guy,” Maher said Republicans are able to get away with driving up deficits while Democrats are told they “can’t spend any money because we have a debt that’s going to saddle our grandchildren.”
Wondering aloud how the Republican Party wins the narrative on being the party of national defense, the veteran funnyman claimed that “Trump is a guy that literally takes sides with countries that are not us,” citing instances of the president siding with the leaders of Russia and North Korea over his own intelligence chiefs.
This prompted Cuomo to ask Maher why Trump’s performance at the Helsinki summit wasn’t enough to change the views of so-called patriotic Republican voters.
“Because it’s a cult,” Maher responded, adding that Republicans have “patriotic immunity” whereas President Obama got slammed for saluting with a coffee cup in his hand.
“Do you think he’s winning?” Cuomo asked.
“Yes,” the HBO star replied. “And I’m sick of winning. He’s right. I’m sick of winning. He is winning.”
Maher went on to acknowledge that recent polls still don’t show Trump doing that well despite a good economy, adding that while unemployment is low, the economy is not “great for a lot of people.”
“They never seem to catch on to this bait-and-switch about, you vote for this guy who is going to be the little man’s champion and he gives all the money to the rich people,” he continued. “You have this idea that your path to the American Dream is blocked by immigrants and single mothers on food stamps.”
What would it be like if Trump hadn’t been hamstrung by his own party plus Mueller investigation? We might have had mass liberal suicides, which would have been a shame.

That is fine, we are not tired of winning, but we are tired of Bill Maher. He should shut up and go away.
I’m willing to concede that Maher can be funny, or could be funny at some point in the past. John Stewart can be funny. Colbert was once able to be somewhat funny. There are even Amy Schumer bits that are funny. Samantha Bee is the one I don’t get. She’s just not funny. Not even once. Ever.

Well Yea, in a meritocracy, the most productive receive most of the rewards. The nonproductive get a little more but not at the level the productive people do. The jealousy eventually leads to electing a socialist who promptly runs the economy into the ditch.
Just like ying and yang, the process continues over and over.

That is a gross overstatement. Maher has ceased to be funny about a million insults ago.
Democrat Party always needs an uneven playing field to compete. They are just the party of malcontents, queers and bitching, sub achievers

Why would anyone listen to a comic .... he’s no better or smarter than the average Joe you could pick out randomly in a phone book.
Their leadership (political, intellectual, and media) draws heavily from groups that produce lots of subversive malcontents. I’m just amazed at how anyone could think that Samantha Bee is funny. Subversion of our culture isn’t new, that it’s being done by talentless hacks might be.

I don’t think the goofy f**ker knows what a cult is. A cult is a group that believes anybody from any country has a right to come here to live at any time because their leaders tell them so. But, that same thing don’t apply to other countries. And, Racism. A cult is a group that people with penises are women if they want to be because their leaders tell them so. And, homophobia. A cult is a group who believes that a particular population is poor and undersocialized not because they have a 77% illegitimate birth rate, NOW in 2019, but because of slavery 150 years ago, and White Privilege, and Institutionalized Racism, because their leaders tell them so. And, racism again. A cult is a group who thinks guns should be taken from people who do not commit crimes, but do not support taking them right now from criminals, and ex-felons, because their leaders tell them so. And, Gun Violence! Don’t even get me started on abortion, the Paris Climate Accords, free syringe programs, letting drug pushers out of prison, etc.
Yeah, Maher is a fool of the highest order and he’s not alone.
