Far-right firebrand Jair Bolsonaro won a decisive victory on Sunday in Brazils presidential runoff election. His win represents a significant break in Brazilian politics, as voters abandoned the leftist party that had dominated past elections. Bolsonaros showing on Sunday is even more remarkable because he largely began his presidential campaign as he has a long history of making controversial "racist and sexist statements"; his unfiltered rhetoric and his law and order platform have earned him the nickname the Trump of the Tropics.

He better get a massive security force surrounding him. The criminals will stop at nothing to cut his head off.

Why aren’t socialist/communist candidates referred to as far left? Is a sarc tag needed?

Jain Bolsonaro in Brasil and President Trump in the U.S.A. have
arisen for similar reasons.
The Media in Brazil is even more "progressive" than in the U.S.A.
Bolsonaro takes on the Media as Trump does here in the U.S.A.

Given his margin of victory the gentleman is now firmly mainstream.

I was just hitting “Reply” to write that when I glanced your reply. It is so typical. There is no such thing as a “leftist radical” or a “far left wing kook.”
To: Rabin
A Latino Trump? I hope so... They really need one.

If he is so damn controversial why was he elected? I hate the Media. Because to them, if your even slightly to the right of Che Gueverra, you're considered radical, far-right.

50% of right wingers are “far right” and there have been nearly 0 far left candidates. Its almost as if their idea of what’s the center is completely wrong.

I understand gangs are the first item on the new president’s agenda - as in a complete sweep and removal. There might even be places in Brazil people will once again be able to walk in peace for a change. That would be different. And he has no problem declaring Brazil as a Christian nation.

That is what it seems, pro-freedom, pro-business, anti-crime = far right.

I'm pretty sure they would describe Mao and Stalin as ‘moderates’.
