Denouncing acts of blatant hatred and bigotry is easy. But those of us who are white people don't need to carry a torch to be part of the problem. The subjugation of people of color happens every day by those who would never march with citronella torches or drive a car through a throng of innocent protesters, by people who would recoil at being called racist.
Subjugation occurs by white people across the Chicago region who protest public and affordable housing under the polite cover of parking and density concerns; by white people across the state of Illinois who, knowing we are 50th in school funding equity, stand in the way of a bill that even timidly moves us away from penalizing poor students; and by white people across the country who voted for and still support a president who took days to condemn white supremacy.....

Well now we are leaving the Chicago suburbs for the sanity of Wisconsin and Indiana. If the Tribune thinks we don’t live in Chicago because of parking they are nuts. The schools are crap unless you get to the magnet schools. And of course you are separating yourself there too. But the 20 shootings every weekend are good enough to leave the city. As would the taxes and the tickets for sneezing incorrectly. But if black people love us so much they can move to Wisconsin too. We aren’t fleeing black people. We are fleeing democrats.
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
Well....the people who lived there turned it into a disgusting, filthy, dangerous SLUM! It sure wasn't the whites who did that!
Cabrini Green is now long gone and guess what...it's now a nice part of town.
Though admittedly, I don't know exactly what it's like now, when I lived in Chicago, the people who lived on the Gold Coast sent their kiddos to private schools, the upscale, poshest parochial schools, or the one small Magnet school ( though after a while those kiddos went off to Latin, Park, Lab, the elite parochial Catholic and Jewish private schools , and later..off to boarding schools.
And though, when we first moved to Chicago, in the early '70s, I was shocked by just HOW segregated that city was ( and it wasn't just by race; it was by ethnicity and religion; which covered far more than just housing and schools! )and surprise, surprise...some of it was due to social strata AND choice by not only whites, but by certain ethnic groups and by blacks and "Hispanics"!
Just as the word "RACIST" no longer means a damned thing, "white guilt" is just as bogus a term now as well! So shove your lefty crap where the sun don't shine; diddums!
My wife says Philadelphia was the same way when she grew up there.
In her effort to lay a guilt trip on whites who have worked and built successful lives and communities, she is admitting, perhaps unwittingly, that blacks are the “white man’s burden.”. And she admits to the truth of the old story of a teacher who asked his all-black class what would happen if all whites suddenly vanished. “We screwed,” one student answered. She admits that blacks can’t succeed unless whites make it happen for them. How racist of her.

They don’t need to pass an amendment. They’re doing it right in front of us and we do nothing.
Oh sure, there still were sections that were primarily one ethnicity or racially exclusive and as with most places, anywhere, social/money strata precluded, as it still does, where one was able to live, but by the early 70s, a lot of that had changed AND clubs were no longer blackballing people due to religion or race.
It took until the 21rst century, for most clubs ( there still may be some that have yet to accept members they never have ), in Chicago to change.
The Women's Athletic League ( a VERY posh club ) wouldn't even look at a membership application, in the 20th century, if someone had one, JUST ONE, Jewish great grand parent!
The Casino used to be even worse and SO secretive, that the vast majority of the population of Chicago and even the near in burbs, didn't and probably still don't know of its existence!
And then there's the FORTNIGHTLY! Don't even ask about that one! LOL
Wanna talk about housing? Even IF you could afford the pricetag, many of the co-ops and condos on the choicest part of the Gold Coast wouldn't allow you to buy one for some of the strangest reasons! One ( the one where Ray Kroc had owned the penthouse ) wouldn't accept anyone who worked on one of the ( stock, options, mercantile ) Exchanges...basically, you had to be lawyer!
And a few buildings down the street, there was a building known as "THE JEWISH BUILDING"; except that most people, who then owned/lived in the apartments, were no longer Jewish.
NYC has always gone through massive upheavals/changing of populations from neighborhood to neighborhood, since its beginnings.
For example...Harlem was, until the end of the 19 teens, always an ALL WHITE neighborhood. Then it changed and was mostly black, until the 21rst century, when it first became mixed and is now well on its way to again being mostly white.
I'd post about the ethnic neighborhoods; however, they change even faster and there are far too many of them, especially in Manhattan, to do justice for, in one post.
Oh...and lower Manhattan is now THE IN place, whereas the East and West sides used to be and kept switching every couple or three decades. It's enough to make ones head to spin.

I hired people of all ethnicity during my time.
I had no compunction to do it based on anything other than skill and willingness to work.
I find these folks ignorant and divisive.
I guess the Affirmative Action programs and countless set-asides favoring "people of color" are having an effect that is opposite of that which was intended. Time to end them.
Plus, 72% of NFL players are not white.
It looks like this little "subjugation of the people" bit is only coming from one direction, and it's not from the whites.
If the shit really hits the fan I think the primary targets for retaliation by patriots will not be poor, ignorant SJWs/thugs and other useful idiots supporting the left. They really are beneath contempt. Patriots will focus on the establishment and their MSM propogandists. There will be no place to hide, not even under scrotum-eyes Soros’ vulture wings.
