Well, you just answered a question I had ... did the Korean War ever end? I didn’t think so! It’s been an armistice, right?
But, OTOH, were we at war with “North Korea” ? I don’t think it existed at that time, but was a creation of the armistice.
Sobering thoughts!

No, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (”North Korea”) came about when the peninsula was divided in two after the end of World War II and the withdrawal of occupying Imperial Japanese troops. Kim Il Sung, a Soviet operative, was installed as the leader in the North.

Korea was divided at the end of WW I
The war began when the North invaded the south in 1950.
Then the UN passed the resolution authorizing a Police Action (a war by any other name is just as bloody).
