Yes, Ted Cruz Did Support ‘Amnesty’ for Illegal Immigrants
Bold ^ | Matthew Sheffield

Posted on 12/17/2015 7:03:30 PM PST by RatherBiased.com

The Cruz presidential campaign is now claiming that the senator's attempted amendments and statements were only designed to be so-called "poison pills," a legislative trick designed to get supporters of a bill to vote against it. That was also the line Cruz took in an interview yesterday with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

But that does not square with the fact that weeks after the legislation failed in the House, Cruz was still talking up how he wanted to grant permanent resident status to illegal immigrants in an interview with the Texas Tribune in September:

Immigration-reform legislation from the Senate's so-called Gang of Eight passed that chamber in June and includes a 13-year path to citizenship. Cruz pushed unsuccessfully for amendments that would have, among other things, eliminated the citizenship component.

Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

"The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight," he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

Cruz said recent polling indicated that people outside Washington support some reform, including legal status without citizenship. He said he was against naturalization because it rewarded lawbreakers and was unfair to legal immigrants. It also perpetuates illegal crossings, he added.

Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000.

You can hope, or even vote for a hillary victory.

Hope nothing. Just looking at the heads to heads against Hilary Clinton from the same firms that are giving Trump these YUGE leads in the GOP primaries you keep bleating about. If you accept NBC polls saying Trump has YUGE leads in the GOP primaries, then you also accept polls from the same NBC saying Trump getting clobbered by 10% by Hilary Clinton.

The main problem with Cruz is his love of H1B’s and support for TPP when it was safe. Only when Trump came out against TPP did Cruz switch.

You are full of crap, and it is very sad that you have resorted to quoting msm manipulation to damage Trump. Not that it matters, Trump has already won.

If you’d have been around as long as I have, perhaps you wouldn’t be a troll. Or perhaps you would.

No answers to my post eh?
Ok. So far Trump has won exactly ZERO elections for public office since he was born. Trump was won nothing. At lease Giuliani won twice as mayor before NOT winning even a single state in the GOP.primaries after leading in the polls for over a year.

Rubio at the time said the bill (gang of 8) wasn’t amnesty.

So Cruz proposed adding an amendment to make it impossible for anyone caught illegally to ever become a citizen and Rubio then balked at that amendment. An Amendment that was also worked on by Jeff Session by the way.

Cruz was trying some political gaming to hold Rubio to what he claimed about the gang of 8 bill and Rubio balked.

Remember Rubio WORKED with Chucky Schmucky SCHUMER on the Gang of 8 bill.

Cruz lied about his support for legalization and you want to accuse Trump of cheating on his wife? That sounds like situational ethics.

Dude.

You are not going to convince the Cruz supporters, and everyone else already knows that facts.

Should I believe Jeff Sessions and Mike Lee, or should I believe you?

I will go with the stalwart conservative senators who have backed up Ted Cruz.

I don’t really know why this is so hard, either.

To this day you can’t get Cruz to enforce the law, if and when it includes deportation methods. And, it does.

Anybody know where Cruz ever got serious about consequences?

I know he came up with the matinee title to what the heck he was doing, the so-called “poison pill” performance, but it’s a hard sell when you follow what he said afterward, and even after, “afterward”.

This is just not news. We knew this already. Unfortunately, it’s on video LIVE TV everywhere. With audio. Sheeez.

Ted Cruz stood with Jeff Sessions to defeat the gang of eight bill.

Trump in 2012 criticized the GOP for being mean spirited on immigration. He said that Romney's plan of self deportation of illegals was "maniacal".

Will the real Donald Trump show up please?

Today it is "They're outta here", tomorrow it will be "those conservatives are mean spirited and maniacal".

That is what we call a campaign conservative.

Trump is a lifelong liberal who has supported every far left position out there and still supports gay marriage and affirmative action as borne out by his recent attacks on Scalia. He only “converted” to some conservative causes just in time to run for president.

Reagan once tried to join the Communist Party USA. He was a lib.

People never change their positions.
