I heard they are doing some major work on I-40 in Haywood County, believe it is, to try to forestall landslides where the mountain has been falling since they first built that road.
Main thing is still the new bridge improvement tween the split and Newport but it’s not too bad
Worst part is NCHP.....they swarm 40 tween state line and Asheville
And speed limit is 50-55 so u have to watch
But it’s vast improvement from before the tunnels when it was crazy switchbacks forever
When was the big rock slide.....96 maybe
Folks forget 40 was closed what two years then....maybe more
Is Cumberland Gap worth seeing...I like the historical significance but is it visible really
