I know there are many angered by the title of this post, but the truth hurts. I cannot tell you the number of times I have been to political events where a politician kisses babies and talks Jesus so the pro-lifers in the crowd get thigh sweats and send the politician to Washington. When the politician takes up with his mistress or pays for an abortion or, as Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC)51% did, undermines the pro-life cause, they are just horrified.
But still they return predictable to the GOP for more abuse and disappointment.
Maybe it is time for a third party to give the GOP competition. Yesterday, the GOP threw its base under the bus. The Republicans who claim to support the pro-life movement, including Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC)51% who claimed shed vote for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act after she ensured it would not pass, need to be beaten. Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC)51%, in particular, must be ruined politically even if it means the pro-life community sends a pro-abortion Democrat in her place. Theyll still have improved the seat by replacing Ellmers with someone who is not a damnable liar.
In short, the pro-life movement must stop being the whores of the GOP. The Republican Leadership knows the pro-life movement is in its pocket. They have nowhere else to go. They have no one else to vote for. As much as Republicans look at black voters and tut-tut that they are being taken advantage of by a Democratic Party that knows black voters will not go anywhere, the Republicans are doing precisely the same to pro-life voters.

Of course, that ain’t the only wrong tree they’re barking up.
In fact, they specialize in barking up the wrong trees.
For Erick Erickson, this is extraordinary. Redstate’s TOS states that it is a bannable offense to advocate for anyone but Republican candidates.
Perhaps Mr. Erickson has finally figured out that the answer isn’t with Republicans, it’s with conservatives.
THE true test for candidates' conservative authenticity is if they understand that our rights come from the One Who created us, and that the supreme law of our land requires equal protection for each and every one of those individuals who have been made in God's image and likeness.
if not the pubs then who?.......we're a two party system and third parties are merely spoilers and usually their spoilers in favor of further leftist democrats...
Read up on how the Repub party started.
One party collapsed and a new one took its place.
most prolife people I know will turn on a republican if they even suspect that the republican is for legal non medical need abortions.
Either we fear the justice of our Creator , or we are among the lawless ones.
We started America's Party seven years ago. If everyone who says what you say had joined up with us in that time we would already have a functioning, practical, PRINCIPLED replacement for the allegedly Republican Party going strong.
But sadly, you didn't, and so we're no better off than we were in 2008. Actually, we're all in much more dire straits.
And it ain't going to get better until conservatives get back to principle and stop compromising.
And the Republican has also made a full circle and returned to it's Liberal origins. Here's some real big problems. The GOP of today isn't as such individual funded but rather corporate or very, very, rich donor funded. The self appointed spokesperson of the GOP today if one watches Fox News is a man that during the GW Bush administration made certain GOP-E got full support of White House and RNC etc over all Conservatives. Can anyone anymore turn on FOX News for even an hour and not see Karl Roves annoying face? His and John McCain's face are shown as being the GOP voice. They don't speak for me so I stopped turning on Fox news entirely.
The Social Conservative movement needs it's on TV media. It was tried once about 20 years ago. Paul Weyrich had a network up and running called National Empowerment Television. This was at he height of the GOP wins in 1994. Weyrich went after Trent Lott with a vengeance.
The GOP-E controls the Media releases for the GOP. So Conservatives get no voice or real representation. FOX News as such in that respect has done the cause far more harm than good. The Dems like Juan Willams, Bob Beckel, etc get their say as the voice of the DEMs then ones like Rove, McCain, Graham, and even O'Rielly, are pushed off as being Conservatives. There are maybe a handful of Conservatives allowed any air time and their time very limited.
I think it's the right time for a third party. I believe a third party can work and replace the GOP or at least finally force the true needed reform in it dethroning the Oligarchy in control of it now. Right now the ones saying work within the party are what Boehner, Rove, McCain, Bush, etc count on. They can be funded by rich donors and our dollar has little if any effect. But our real power is our vote. Withhold your vote and they can't be reelected.
Eric Erickson should stop being a pimp for tired metaphors.
We’ve been discussing this for over a decade. I say yes. It is more than time. Why put ourselves through constant disappointment and frustration when we know that both parties are mostly lying to us? But for a handful of true republicans (those who stand on the party’s true platform) the rest are liars of the democratic ilk. We need a true conservative party. Period. Yes, I know it would not win big right away, but this staying in the republican party to reform it is not either. They are doubling down in their efforts to crush us. They have the monied donors to continue to do what they want. Buy votes, buy politicians, etc. We do have the voters if we were able to establish a viable party and not take another 10 years to decide what to call it.
I’m a Tea Party advocate.
The "soup kitchen" model of activism, is and always has been, doomed to failure.
True that.

Yes, I was thinking the same things when I saw this. Luckily I read through the comments before posting!
In the old days before the current lame incarnation of redstate.com, this policy was rigidly enforced, to the detriment of the site, in my opinion. Interesting that Erickson has now stepped over the red line himself. I wonder if one of the mods there has the gumption to enforce their stated policy.
I guess he wants to be understood by the woman-in-the-street.
Touche!
